Specifications

In this article, we present a comprehensive overview of the versatile specifications of the Hue Runner Triple Spotlight (White) smart home light from Philips.

Communication

A wide variety of technologies can be used to control the Smarthome light, each of which can have its own advantages and disadvantages. For example, control via Wifi can be integrated into an existing network over longer distances, but consumes more power than, for example, Zigbee or Bluetooth. Wifi is therefore only suitable for devices that are permanently connected to the power grid. Hue Runner Triple Spotlight (White) supports the following technologies:

  • Bluetooth
  • Zigbee protocol

Supported functions

The following features/functions are supported by this device:

  • Control the light conveniently with your smartphone or the Bridge - switch it on or off as required.
  • Change the brightness.
  • Changing the color temperature like warm or cool white.
  • The luminaire can be configured to emit a white light.
  • Automated activation function.

Third party integrations

Don't want to use the integration/bridge that the manufacturer Philips specifies? That's not a problem. See the list below for all verified integrations that work with Hue Runner Triple Spotlight (White) :

  • Connection via Zigbee2MQTT
  • Google Home
  • Alexa Smart Home

Light

Conventional light bulbs usually consume more power than an LED lamp to provide the same illumination of the room. However, in order to be able to make a comparison between the various illuminants, the specification of the lumens is increasingly made. This is the amount of light emitted in a certain time, without paying attention to the power consumption. For comparison: A conventional light bulb with 40W power will show about 400-450 lumens. The Smarthome light considered here, on the other hand, emits 250 lumen.

Design

Let's start with the positive aspects of the device: the bulbs are extremely easy to replace. While this is standard with conventional light bulbs, many smart home devices also offer an equally simple option for changing the lights. Philips opted for metal as the housing material and presented it in the color white.
