Specifications

Hue Struana Ceiling Light is a smart home lighting solution developed by Philips. This product has been categorized as surface-mounted light.

Communication

What would smart devices in our household be if they could not communicate with each other? Most likely not smart! For this reason, Philips has provided one or more of the following communication channels for integration:

  • Zigbee protocol
Important note: This light requires a separately available hub in order to function properly.

Supported functions

The following features/functions are supported by this device:

  • Switch the light on or off via your smartphone or the Bridge.
  • Change the brightness.
  • Changing the color temperature like warm or cool white.
  • The luminaire can be configured to emit a white light.
  • Wireless updates
  • Automatic switch-on behavior.

Third party integrations

Don't want to use the integration/bridge that the manufacturer Philips specifies? That's not a problem. See the list below for all verified integrations that work with Hue Struana Ceiling Light :

  • Connection via Zigbee2MQTT
  • Zigbee home automation

Light

The light source is capable of generating a color temperature of 2200 to 6500 lumen. The brightness (lumens) of the Smarthome light was specified by Philips with 2400 lumen. For comparison, an average halogen tube has a value of about 410 lumens with a power consumption of 40W. Typical light bulbs from the old days usually consume about 25-40 watts per hour. The smarthome light described here Hue Struana Ceiling Light gets by in comparison with 27 w. However, it is important to note that Philips is free to define this specification within certain limits. It is therefore possible that the power consumption may deviate slightly when the light is on at full brightness.

Design

The first step is the sustainability check: The installed light sources are permanently installed by Philips and thus unfortunately cannot be replaced. Although LEDs consume less power and have a longer lifespan, this is very annoying, especially for larger devices. With bulbs that have the electronics directly installed, a change by the manufacturer is difficult to implement. This is unfortunately a pity, but currently unavoidable. The housing is made of synthetics in the attractive color white. The device weighs in at 1.792 kg.

Protection

The IP classification determines the degree of protection that mechanical and electrical housings offer against the ingress of foreign bodies, dust, accidental contact and water. These smart home lights have a classification of IP44.
