Display, power consumption, dimensions, technologies used, connections, certifications, comfort features. All these keywords can be relevant for a purchase decision, but an exact comparison is often difficult. For this reason, we will summarize as many of the mentioned specifications as possible in an understandable form in the course of this article. Let's start with the most important component of the U3223QE from Dell.

Display

Videos and/or other applications can be displayed on the monitor's 31 inches ( 80.1 cm on the diagonal). For books or documents, a portrait format layout is usually used because the reading flow decreases as the width of the text increases. For small diagonals, screens in 4:3 format have a clear advantage because they are better suited for display due to their height. In contrast, widescreen monitors are better suited for playing video games or displaying several documents side by side, for example. Depending on the application, it should be decided individually whether the aspect ratio of 1.778 : 116 is sufficient. Besides the aspect ratios and the specified screen diagonal, the ratio between the monitor surface and the actual display is probably also relevant for some enthusiasts. This is the general ratio of non-display to display. In other words, 93.6 % of the monitor's front area consists of the display. The remaining percent consists of screen edges and cannot display an image. If you want to place several monitors next to each other, you should make sure that the edges are as small as possible. The display is a IPS panel. The panel has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 px. The pixel density is 140 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.182 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer Dell is 400 nt. The panel is illuminated by W-LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. Dell promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. The refresh rate is horizontally seen at the U3223QE 15 khz to 140 khz. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 23 hz up to 87 hz. The minimum response time of the monitor is ms. The average response time of the monitor is about ms. The display panel is Anti-glare/Matte (3H).

Color space

The panel has a bit depth of 10 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the DCI-P3 color space is 98 %. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the SRGB color space is 100 %.

Contrast ratio

Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from Dell has a static contrast ratio of 2000 : 1 , according to the manufacturer.

HDR

The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:

screen design

Without the stand, the monitor comes with a width of 71.2 cm , a height of 41 cm and about 5.5 cm.
If you want to place the monitor described here on the desk without a wall mount, you should allow for 46.9 x 71.2 x 23.3 cm (HxWxD) of space. The base itself has a depth of 23.3 cm. The width of the stand is 30 cm. If you want to place the monitor on a table or even transport it, you should expect a weight of 10.36 kg with the stand screwed in. A wall mount should be designed for at least 5.65 kg to hold the U3223QE neatly and securely. Speaking of weight without a stand and thus wall or table mounts. The monitor supports a Vesa mounting. A height-adjustable stand ensures an improved ergonomic posture during use. The monitor can be moved to a maximum height of 15 cm. This value is always measured from the bottom edge of the screen.

Rotate, tilt and swivel

The monitor from Dell has a pivot function and can thus be rotated using the included stand. A rotation to the left is possible with up to 90 degree. To the right, the monitor can be rotated by 90 degree. The U3223QE can be swiveled when mounted on the included stand. Pivoting to the left is possible up to 30 degree. Pivoting to the right is possible up to 30 degree. The monitor U3223QE can be tilted. The angle of inclination to the rear is 21. The monitor can be tilted forward by 5 degree.

Ports

The ' U3223QE ' monitor is equipped with 1 RJ45 Ethernet port(s) that allow direct connection to wired networks. This feature opens up the possibility for users to benefit from a stable and potentially higher network speed, especially in situations where a reliable Internet connection is essential.

Anyone who works a lot on the computer spends many hours a day in front of the screen. Excessive screen work can damage the eyes. This effect can be particularly pronounced during the darker hours and in the winter months. Many monitor manufacturers have now reacted and offer technologies and settings to reduce the blue component, which is primarily controversial. Depending on the manufacturer, these can be called "Low Blue Light", "Low Blue Light Technology", "SoftBlue" or even "Eye Saver Mode" and function differently. However, it is only important that Dell offers a technology to reduce the blue content in its monitor U3223QE.

Power consumption

The average consumption was given by Dell as 29.4 w. The maximum power consumption (peak) specified for this monitor is 220 w. In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.3 w. When switched off, on the other hand, the monitor consumes only 0.2 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. There are 1.5 amps specified. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.

Environment

The maximum height at which the monitor may be operated, according to the manufacturer's specifications, is 5 km. The maximum permissible ambient temperature is 40 °C during operation. Below a temperature of 0 °C , the monitor from Dell should again not be used. The humidity must not exceed 80 percent. At least, however, 10 percent humidity. The monitor may be stored at a maximum humidity of 90 percent. The minimum humidity during storage should not fall below 5 percent. The maximum storage temperature should be according to Dell 60 °C. Minimal were given by Dell -20 °C. According to the manufacturer, the monitor may be stored at a maximum height of 12.192 km.
