Within this article we will take a closer look at the technical specifications of the U3023E monitor from Dell. For this we will talk about all possible categories that could be relevant. To start with, we will look at the display, talk about the design and in the next section we will go into the features of the monitor. Other features such as power consumption, connectors and certifications will follow later in the text.

Display

Let's start with the size of the actual display. This information is given in inches and measures the screen diagonal of the display. It can happen that displays with the same size specification have different dimensions, since square monitors, for example, can belong to the same category as a widescreen monitor. The monitor from Dell in this article has a size of 29 inches ( 75.6 cm on the diagonal). Let's keep it short and sweet. The monitor has an aspect ratio of 1.6 : 116. In addition to the aspect ratios and the specified screen diagonal, some enthusiasts may also be interested in the ratio between the monitor surface and the actual display. This ratio describes the general relationship between non-display and display. In other words, approximately 93.6 % of the front surface of the monitor consists of the display, while the rest consists of screen edges and cannot display an image. When setting up several monitors next to each other, it is advisable to give preference to models with the narrowest possible edges. The display is a IPS panel. The panel has a resolution of 2560 x 1600 px. The pixel density is 101 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.251 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer Dell is 350 nt. The panel is illuminated by W-LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. Dell promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. The refresh rate is horizontally seen at the U3023E 30 khz to 113 khz. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 56 hz up to 76 hz. The minimum response time of the monitor is ms. The average response time of the monitor is about ms. The display panel is Anti-glare/Matte (3H).

Color space

The panel has a bit depth of 10 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the DCI-P3 color space is 95 %. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the SRGB color space is 100 %.

Contrast ratio

Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from Dell has a static contrast ratio of 1000 : 1 , according to the manufacturer. In contrast to the static contrast ratio, the dynamic contrast ratio changes the brightness of the panel itself in addition to the difference measurement from black to white. In addition to the difference between the brightest and the darkest pixel, the backlight is thus changed. Since the brightness of the panel may not be able to be adjusted exactly to a single pixel, a so-called halo effect is possible. The value of 2000000 : 1 of dynamic contrast ratio for the monitor U3023E cannot provide any information about the severity of the halo effect here. Therefore, it is more useful to compare the static contrast ratio.

The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:

screen design

Dell Specifies the following dimensions for the monitor U3023E without stand/feet: 41.8 cm x 65.5 cm x 5.3 cm (HxWxD)
The size of the U3023E on the desk is likely to be particularly relevant for most users. Dell specifies a space requirement of 47.2 x 65.5 x 23 cm (HxWxD) with the included stand. The base itself has a depth of 23 cm. The width of the stand is 30 cm. As for the weight, Dell states a total weight of 11.13 kg with stand. A wall mount should be designed for at least 6.48 kg to hold the U3023E neatly and securely. Speaking of weight without a stand and thus wall or table mounts. The monitor supports a Vesa mounting. A height-adjustable stand ensures an improved ergonomic posture during use. The monitor can be moved to a maximum height of 15 cm. This value is always measured from the bottom edge of the screen.

Rotate, tilt and swivel

The monitor from Dell has a pivot function and can thus be rotated using the included stand. A rotation to the left is possible with up to 90 degree. To the right, the monitor can be rotated by 90 degree. The U3023E can be swiveled when mounted on the included stand. Pivoting to the left is possible up to 30 degree. Pivoting to the right is possible up to 30 degree. Thanks to the tilt function of the U3023E monitor, the screen position can be flexibly adjusted to minimize dazzling light sources and ensure optimum visibility. The angle of inclination to the rear is 21. The monitor can be tilted forward by 5 degree.

Anyone who works a lot on the computer spends many hours a day in front of the screen. Excessive screen work can damage the eyes. This effect can be particularly pronounced during the darker hours and in the winter months. Many monitor manufacturers have now reacted and offer technologies and settings to reduce the blue component, which is primarily controversial. Depending on the manufacturer, these can be called "Low Blue Light", "Low Blue Light Technology", "SoftBlue" or even "Eye Saver Mode" and function differently. However, it is only important that Dell offers a technology to reduce the blue content in its monitor U3023E.

Power consumption

On average, the monitor consumes approximately 26.6 w. The maximum power consumption (peak) specified for this monitor is 210 w. In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.3 w. When switched off, on the other hand, the monitor consumes only 0.2 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. There are 1.8 amps specified. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.

Environment

The maximum height at which the monitor may be operated, according to the manufacturer's specifications, is 5 km. The maximum permissible ambient temperature is 40 °C during operation. Below a temperature of 0 °C , the monitor from Dell should again not be used. The humidity must not exceed 80 percent. At least, however, 10 percent humidity. The monitor may be stored at a maximum humidity of 90 percent. The minimum humidity during storage should not fall below 5 percent. The maximum storage temperature should be according to Dell 60 °C. Minimal were given by Dell -20 °C. According to the manufacturer, the monitor may be stored at a maximum height of 12.192 km.

Packaging

The box together with the monitor weighs about 15.05 kg.
