Display, power consumption, dimensions, technologies used, connections, certifications, comfort features. All these keywords can be relevant for a purchase decision, but an exact comparison is often difficult. For this reason, we will summarize as many of the mentioned specifications as possible in an understandable form in the course of this article. Let's start with the most important component of the D43-D2 from Vizio.

Display

Videos and/or other applications can be displayed on the monitor's 42 inches ( 1.08 m on the diagonal). As already known, two monitors with different outer dimensions can have the same screen diagonal. In the case of the monitor D43-D2 , we find an aspect ratio of 1.778 to 116. This means that for every 116 pixels in height, 1.778 pixels in width are added. For comparison: A classic CRT monitor had an aspect ratio of 4:3. Approximately 90.1 % of the front surface of the monitor is taken up by the display, while the remaining part is screen edges that do not allow the image to be displayed. If you want to place several monitors next to each other, it is advisable to choose models with narrow edges. The display is a IPS panel. The panel has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 px. The pixel density is 51 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.49 mm. The panel is illuminated by Direct LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. Vizio promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 50 hz up to 60 hz. The average response time of the monitor is about ms.

Color space

The panel has a bit depth of 8 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors.

Contrast ratio

Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from Vizio has a static contrast ratio of 1200 : 1 , according to the manufacturer. In contrast to the static contrast ratio, the dynamic contrast ratio changes the brightness of the panel itself in addition to the difference measurement from black to white. In addition to the difference between the brightest and the darkest pixel, the backlight is thus changed. Since the brightness of the panel may not be able to be adjusted exactly to a single pixel, a so-called halo effect is possible. The value of 2000000 : 1 of dynamic contrast ratio for the monitor D43-D2 cannot provide any information about the severity of the halo effect here. Therefore, it is more useful to compare the static contrast ratio.

HDR

The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:

screen design

For a possible wall mounting or comparison to the currently owned monitor at the beginning, the dimensions of the monitor without stand/feet: 56.9 cm x 96.9 cm x 6.7 cm (HxWxD)
If you want to place the monitor described here on the desk without a wall mount, you should allow for 62.4 x 96.9 x 21 cm (HxWxD) of space. If you want to place the monitor on a table or even transport it, you should expect a weight of 8.3 kg with the stand screwed in. Without stand, the monitor weighs 8 kg. Speaking of weight without a stand and thus wall or table mounts. The monitor supports a Vesa mounting.

Rotate, tilt and swivel

The monitor from Vizio cannot be rotated. The monitor cannot be swiveled. This feature could be retrofitted with a third-party stand. A tilt function was not provided by Vizio with the included stand.

Ports

The monitor named ' D43-D2 ' has 1 RJ45 Ethernet port(s), which enables a wired network connection. This port offers users the possibility to connect the device directly to a wired network, which can be beneficial in environments with a reliable and fast internet connection.

camera

This monitor does not have a camera.

Features

Panel manufacturer

Many manufacturers of monitors and TVs fall back on third-party manufacturers, such as Samsung or LG, when choosing the actual display (panel). Thus, many of the monitors have the same panel and, conversely, differ only in their design, additional functionalities, the software used and, of course, the price. Two monitors from Vizio or another manufacturer with an identical panel do not necessarily have to have the same picture quality, but it is usually a first indicator for a purchase decision. The panel used here is originally from LG Display and has the model number LC430DUY-SHA1.

WiFi / Bluetooth

This model ( D43-D2 ) supports Wi-Fi. This wireless network connection allows devices to display content from a smartphone or tablet, for example, or to download apps from an app store, similar to TVs. However, monitors usually do not have this functionality because they are only operated in connection with a notebook or PC. The protocols are supported:

Power consumption

In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.5 w. In ECO mode, the monitor consumes 27.3 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 60 hz to 60 hz.

Environment

The monitor has a built-in ambient light sensor, which can be used, for example, to dynamically adjust the brightness of the monitor to the ambient conditions.
