Vizio PQ65-F1

Product image for PQ65-F1

Today we will look at the monitor PQ65-F1 from Vizio from the year 2018. Within this article, we will first take a closer look at the most important feature of a monitor -the display-, then the design, and in the next section we will go into the features of the monitor. Of course, power consumption, certifications, connectivity and other important details will also be considered.

Display

Let's start with the size of the actual display. This information is given in inches and measures the screen diagonal of the display. It can happen that displays with the same size specification have different dimensions, since square monitors, for example, can belong to the same category as a widescreen monitor. The monitor from Vizio in this article has a size of 64 inches ( 1.639 m on the diagonal). As already mentioned or known, monitors have a certain number of pixels in height and width. In most cases, this is not a 1:1 ratio, which is also the case with the monitor from Vizio. This monitor has an aspect ratio of 1.778 : 116. This means that every 1.778 pixels in width 116 pixels in height are added. In addition to the aspect ratios and the specified screen diagonal, some enthusiasts may also be interested in the ratio between the monitor surface and the actual display. This ratio describes the general relationship between non-display and display. In other words, approximately 95.3 % of the front surface of the monitor consists of the display, while the rest consists of screen edges and cannot display an image. When setting up several monitors next to each other, it is advisable to give preference to models with the narrowest possible edges. The display is a VA panel. The panel has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 px. The pixel density is 68 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.372 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer Vizio is 800 nt. The monitor's panel reaches a peak brightness of 2000 nt. The panel is illuminated by Direct LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. Vizio promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 100 hz up to 120 hz. The minimum response time of the monitor is ms. The average response time of the monitor is about ms. The display panel is Glossy.

Color space

The panel has a bit depth of 10 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the DCI-P3 color space is 99 %. The REC 2020 color space is covered to 80 %.

Contrast ratio

Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from Vizio has a static contrast ratio of 6000 : 1 , according to the manufacturer. In contrast to the static contrast ratio, the dynamic contrast ratio changes the brightness of the panel itself in addition to the difference measurement from black to white. In addition to the difference between the brightest and the darkest pixel, the backlight is thus changed. Since the brightness of the panel may not be able to be adjusted exactly to a single pixel, a so-called halo effect is possible. The value of 50000000 : 1 of dynamic contrast ratio for the monitor PQ65-F1 cannot provide any information about the severity of the halo effect here. Therefore, it is more useful to compare the static contrast ratio.

HDR

The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:

  • HDR 10
  • HDR HLG
  • Dolby Vision

screen design

The monitor has a width of 1.4480000000000002 m without its attached stand/stand. The height is dimensioned at about 83.1 cm , while the for the depth of the monitor should be kept free at about 6.9 cm.
The size of the monitor (stand included) is 89.2 x 1.4480000000000002 x 30 m (HxWxD). If you want to place the monitor on a table or even transport it, you should expect a weight of 25 kg with the stand screwed in. The monitor PQ65-F1 without the stand weighs 24.62 kg. This weight reduction should be taken into account for wall or arm mounting, since monitor arms have a maximum load capacity. Speaking of weight without a stand and thus wall or table mounts. The monitor supports a Vesa mounting.

Rotate, tilt and swivel

The monitor from Vizio cannot be rotated. The monitor cannot be swiveled. This feature could be retrofitted with a third-party stand. A tilt function was not provided by Vizio with the included stand.

Ports

The monitor named ' PQ65-F1 ' has 1 RJ45 Ethernet port(s), which enables a wired network connection. This port offers users the possibility to connect the device directly to a wired network, which can be beneficial in environments with a reliable and fast internet connection.

camera

This monitor does not have a camera.

Loudspeaker

Features

WiFi / Bluetooth

This model ( PQ65-F1 ) supports Wi-Fi. This wireless network connection allows devices to display content from a smartphone or tablet, for example, or to download apps from an app store, similar to TVs. However, monitors usually do not have this functionality because they are only operated in connection with a notebook or PC. The protocols are supported:
The PQ65-F1 supports Bluetooth.

Power consumption

The average consumption was given by Vizio as 240 w. The maximum power consumption (peak) specified for this monitor is 300 w. In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.5 w. In ECO mode, the monitor consumes 90 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.

Environment

The monitor has a built-in ambient light sensor, which can be used, for example, to dynamically adjust the brightness of the monitor to the ambient conditions.
