Vizio M65Q8-H1

Product image for M65Q8-H1

Today we will look at the monitor M65Q8-H1 from Vizio from the year 2020. Within this article, we will first take a closer look at the most important feature of a monitor -the display-, then the design, and in the next section we will go into the features of the monitor. Of course, power consumption, certifications, connectivity and other important details will also be considered.

Display

Texts, videos and/or other applications can be displayed on the 64 inches ( 1.639 m on the diagonal) of the monitor. Let's keep it short and sweet. The monitor has an aspect ratio of 1.778 : 116. In addition to the aspect ratios and the specified screen diagonal, the ratio between the monitor surface and the actual display could also be relevant for some enthusiasts. This ratio represents the general relationship between non-display and display. In other words: Approximately 93.8 % of the front surface of the monitor consists of the display, while the remaining percent consists of screen edges and is not suitable for image reproduction. If you want to place several monitors next to each other, you should make sure you choose models with the narrowest possible edges. The display is a VA panel. The panel has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 px. The pixel density is 68 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.372 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer Vizio is 350 nt. The maximum brightness of the monitor is 400 nt on the panel. The panel is illuminated by Direct LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. Vizio promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 48 hz up to 60 hz. The minimum response time of the monitor is ms. The maximum response time of the monitor is ms.

Color space

The panel has a bit depth of 10 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the DCI-P3 color space is 97 %.

Contrast ratio

Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from Vizio has a static contrast ratio of 5000 : 1 , according to the manufacturer. In contrast to the static contrast ratio, the dynamic contrast ratio changes the brightness of the panel itself in addition to the difference measurement from black to white. In addition to the difference between the brightest and the darkest pixel, the backlight is thus changed. Since the brightness of the panel may not be able to be adjusted exactly to a single pixel, a so-called halo effect is possible. The value of 5000000 : 1 of dynamic contrast ratio for the monitor M65Q8-H1 cannot provide any information about the severity of the halo effect here. Therefore, it is more useful to compare the static contrast ratio.

HDR

The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:

  • HDR 10
  • HDR 10+
  • HDR HLG
  • Dolby Vision

screen design

The monitor has a width of 1.455 m without its attached stand/stand. The height is dimensioned at about 84 cm , while the for the depth of the monitor should be kept free at about 7.2 cm.
If you want to place the monitor described here on the desk without a wall mount, you should allow for 90.5 x 1.455 x 30 m (HxWxD) of space. As for the weight, Vizio states a total weight of 24.6 kg with stand. A wall mount should be designed for at least 24.2 kg to hold the M65Q8-H1 neatly and securely. Speaking of weight without a stand and thus wall or table mounts. The monitor supports a Vesa mounting.

Rotate, tilt and swivel

The monitor from Vizio cannot be rotated. The monitor cannot be swiveled. This feature could be retrofitted with a third-party stand. A tilt function was not provided by Vizio with the included stand.

Ports

The ' M65Q8-H1 ' monitor is equipped with 1 RJ45 Ethernet port(s) that allow direct connection to wired networks. This feature opens up the possibility for users to benefit from a stable and potentially higher network speed, especially in situations where a reliable Internet connection is essential.

camera

This monitor does not have a camera.

Loudspeaker

Features

  • The display/monitor supports Frame Rate Compensation.

AirPlay enables Apple devices to communicate wirelessly with external screens and speakers. This allows presentations, movies, games and music to be streamed to stereo or TV.

WiFi / Bluetooth

This model ( M65Q8-H1 ) supports Wi-Fi. This wireless network connection allows devices to display content from a smartphone or tablet, for example, or to download apps from an app store, similar to TVs. However, monitors usually do not have this functionality because they are only operated in connection with a notebook or PC. The protocols are supported:
For a monitor, "WiFi Direct" refers to a feature that allows you to establish a direct connection between the monitor and another WLAN-enabled device without the need for a wireless network. This allows you, for example, to display content from your smartphone or tablet on the monitor without having to be near a WLAN network. The monitor M65Q8-H1 supports this function as a matter of course.

Power consumption

The average consumption figure for M65Q8-H1 is 69 w. The maximum power consumption (peak) specified for this monitor is 172.3 w. In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.5 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.

Environment

The monitor has a built-in ambient light sensor, which can be used, for example, to dynamically adjust the brightness of the monitor to the ambient conditions.

Packaging

The monitor is packaged in a cardboard box measuring 1.002 x 1.599 x 17.3 cm (height x width x depth). The box together with the monitor weighs about 34.1 kg.
