Display, power consumption, dimensions, technologies used, connections, certifications, comfort features. All these keywords can be relevant for a purchase decision, but an exact comparison is often difficult. For this reason, we will summarize as many of the mentioned specifications as possible in an understandable form in the course of this article. Let's start with the most important component of the VG2437mc-LED from ViewSonic.

Display

Games, texts, videos and/or other applications can be displayed on the monitor's 23 inches ( 59.9 cm on the diagonal). As already known, two monitors with different outer dimensions can have the same screen diagonal. In the case of the monitor VG2437mc-LED , we find an aspect ratio of 1.778 to 116. This means that for every 116 pixels in height, 1.778 pixels in width are added. For comparison: A classic CRT monitor had an aspect ratio of 4:3. Approximately 80.6 % of the front surface of the monitor is taken up by the display, while the remaining part is screen edges that do not allow the image to be displayed. If you want to place several monitors next to each other, it is advisable to choose models with narrow edges. The display is a TN panel. The panel has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 px. The pixel density is 93 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.272 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer ViewSonic is 300 nt. The panel is illuminated by W-LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 170 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. ViewSonic promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 160 ° vertical angle. The refresh rate is horizontally seen at the VG2437mc-LED 24 khz to 82 khz. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 50 hz up to 75 hz. The minimum response time of the monitor is ms. The display panel is Anti-glare/Matte (3H).

Color space

The panel has a bit depth of 8 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the NTSC 1953 color space is 72 %.

Contrast ratio

Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from ViewSonic has a static contrast ratio of 1000 : 1 , according to the manufacturer. In contrast to the static contrast ratio, the dynamic contrast ratio changes the brightness of the panel itself in addition to the difference measurement from black to white. In addition to the difference between the brightest and the darkest pixel, the backlight is thus changed. Since the brightness of the panel may not be able to be adjusted exactly to a single pixel, a so-called halo effect is possible. The value of 20000000 : 1 of dynamic contrast ratio for the monitor VG2437mc-LED cannot provide any information about the severity of the halo effect here. Therefore, it is more useful to compare the static contrast ratio.

HDR

The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:

screen design

ViewSonic Specifies the following dimensions for the monitor VG2437mc-LED without stand/feet: 34 cm x 55.6 cm x 6 cm (HxWxD)
If you want to place the monitor described here on the desk without a wall mount, you should allow for 45 x 55.6 x 23.9 cm (HxWxD) of space. As for the weight, ViewSonic states a total weight of 5.2 kg with stand. The monitor VG2437mc-LED without the stand weighs 3.7 kg. This weight reduction should be taken into account for wall or arm mounting, since monitor arms have a maximum load capacity. Speaking of weight without a stand and thus wall or table mounts. The monitor supports a Vesa mounting. A height-adjustable stand ensures an improved ergonomic posture during use. The monitor can be moved to a maximum height of 12.7 cm. This value is always measured from the bottom edge of the screen.

Rotate, tilt and swivel

The monitor from ViewSonic has a pivot function and can thus be rotated using the included stand. A rotation to the left is possible with up to 0 degree. To the right, the monitor can be rotated by 90 degree. The VG2437mc-LED can be swiveled when mounted on the included stand. Pivoting to the left is possible up to 180 degree. Pivoting to the right is possible up to 180 degree. The tilt of the monitor VG2437mc-LED can be individually adjusted to optimize the viewing angle and increase comfort during use. The angle of inclination to the rear is 20. The monitor can be tilted forward by 5 degree.

Ports

The monitor can be connected via 1 VGA ports.

camera

If you often spend your workday in online meetings, you will be happy to know that the VG2437mc-LED from ViewSonic has a built-in camera. This can be used on the connected computer, for example, to function as a webcam or to record pictures/videos. The built-in camera has a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 px when recording video with the camera.

Features

  • The display/monitor supports Frame Rate Compensation.

Panel manufacturer

Many manufacturers of monitors and TVs fall back on third-party manufacturers, such as Samsung or LG, when choosing the actual display (panel). Thus, many of the monitors have the same panel and, conversely, differ only in their design, additional functionalities, the software used and, of course, the price. Two monitors from ViewSonic or another manufacturer with an identical panel do not necessarily have to have the same picture quality, but it is usually a first indicator for a purchase decision. The panel used here is originally from Innolux and has the model number M236HGE-L20.

Power consumption

On average, the monitor consumes approximately 19 w. The maximum power consumption (peak) specified for this monitor is 24.5 w. In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.3 w. When switched off, on the other hand, the monitor consumes only 0.3 w. In ECO mode, the monitor consumes 15.5 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.

Environment

The maximum height at which the monitor may be operated, according to the manufacturer's specifications, is 3.048 km. For temperature, the maximum permissible ambient temperature is 40 °C. Below a temperature of 0 °C , the monitor from ViewSonic should again not be used. The humidity must not exceed 90 percent. At least, however, 20 percent humidity. The monitor may be stored at a maximum humidity of 90 percent. The minimum humidity during storage should not fall below 5 percent. The maximum storage temperature should be according to ViewSonic 60 °C. Minimal were given by ViewSonic -20 °C. According to the manufacturer, the monitor may be stored at a maximum height of 12.192 km.
