Sony KD-65XG7096

Product image for KD-65XG7096

Within this article we will take a closer look at the technical specifications of the KD-65XG7096 monitor from Sony. For this we will talk about all possible categories that could be relevant. To start with, we will look at the display, talk about the design and in the next section we will go into the features of the monitor. Other features such as power consumption, connectors and certifications will follow later in the text.

Display

The display is sized at 64 inches ( 1.639 m on the diagonal). While classic CRT monitors were built with a screen ratio of 4:3, this monitor has a ratio of 1.778 : 116 (width to height). Around 92.8 % of the front surface of the monitor consists of the display, while the rest is made up of screen edges that cannot display images. If you want to place several monitors next to each other, it is advisable to prefer those with narrow edges. The display is a IPS panel. The panel has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 px. The pixel density is 68 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.372 mm. The panel is illuminated by Direct LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. Sony promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 50 hz up to 60 hz.

Color space

The panel has a bit depth of 10 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors.

Contrast ratio

Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality.

HDR

The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:

  • HDR 10
  • HDR HLG

screen design

Sony Specifies the following dimensions for the monitor KD-65XG7096 without stand/feet: 84.5 cm x 1.463 m x 8 cm (HxWxD)
If you want to place the monitor described here on the desk without a wall mount, you should allow for 90.9 x 1.463 x 33.6 m (HxWxD) of space. The device weighs in total (i.e. also measured with the stand) 21.6 kg. According to Sony , you can expect a weight of about 20.5 kg without the stand. Speaking of weight without a stand and thus wall or table mounts. The monitor supports a Vesa mounting.

Rotate, tilt and swivel

The monitor from Sony cannot be rotated. The monitor cannot be swiveled. This feature could be retrofitted with a third-party stand. A tilt function was not provided by Sony with the included stand.

Ports

The ' KD-65XG7096 ' monitor is equipped with 1 RJ45 Ethernet port(s) that allow direct connection to wired networks. This feature opens up the possibility for users to benefit from a stable and potentially higher network speed, especially in situations where a reliable Internet connection is essential.

camera

This monitor does not have a camera.

Features

  • The display/monitor supports Frame Rate Compensation.

WiFi / Bluetooth

This model ( KD-65XG7096 ) supports Wi-Fi. This wireless network connection allows devices to display content from a smartphone or tablet, for example, or to download apps from an app store, similar to TVs. However, monitors usually do not have this functionality because they are only operated in connection with a notebook or PC. The protocols are supported:
For a monitor, "WiFi Direct" refers to a feature that allows you to establish a direct connection between the monitor and another WLAN-enabled device without the need for a wireless network. This allows you, for example, to display content from your smartphone or tablet on the monitor without having to be near a WLAN network. The monitor KD-65XG7096 supports this function as a matter of course.

Power consumption

The average consumption figure for KD-65XG7096 is 151 w. The maximum power consumption (peak) specified for this monitor is 256 w. In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.5 w. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.

Environment

The monitor has a built-in ambient light sensor, which can be used, for example, to dynamically adjust the brightness of the monitor to the ambient conditions. For temperature, the maximum permissible ambient temperature is 40 °C. Below a temperature of 0 °C , the monitor from Sony should again not be used. The humidity must not exceed 80 percent. At least, however, 10 percent humidity.

Packaging

The monitor is packaged in a cardboard box measuring 95.6 x 1.569 x 18.6 cm (height x width x depth). The box together with the monitor weighs about 31 kg.
