Within this article we will take a closer look at the technical specifications of the S24D590PL monitor from Samsung. For this we will talk about all possible categories that could be relevant. To start with, we will look at the display, talk about the design and in the next section we will go into the features of the monitor. Other features such as power consumption, connectors and certifications will follow later in the text.
Display
Let's start with the most important component of a monitor, the display. Depending on the aspect ratio of height and width, monitors can be rather wide or square, for example. Besides the pure physical dimensions, the resolution of the display and thus the quality of the display is also decisive here. For easy comparability, however, screen sizes are usually given in inches. This unit of measurement simply compares the diagonal length from the lower left to the upper right corner of the display and is thus universally applicable. This device has a screen diagonal of 23 inches ( 59.9 cm on the diagonal). For books or documents, a portrait format layout is usually used because the reading flow decreases as the width of the text increases. For small diagonals, screens in 4:3 format have a clear advantage because they are better suited for display due to their height. In contrast, widescreen monitors are better suited for playing video games or displaying several documents side by side, for example. Depending on the application, it should be decided individually whether the aspect ratio of 1.778 : 1 is sufficient. In addition to the aspect ratios and the specified screen diagonal, the ratio between the monitor surface and the actual display could also be relevant for some enthusiasts. This ratio represents the general relationship between non-display and display. In other words: Approximately 81.8 % of the front surface of the monitor consists of the display, while the remaining percent consists of screen edges and is not suitable for image reproduction. If you want to place several monitors next to each other, you should make sure you choose models with the narrowest possible edges. The display is a AD-PLS panel. The panel has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 px. The pixel density is 93 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.272 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer Samsung is 250 nt. The panel is illuminated by W-LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. Samsung promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. The refresh rate is horizontally seen at the S24D590PL 30 khz to 81 khz. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 56 hz up to 75 hz. The minimum response time of the monitor is ms. The maximum response time of the monitor is ms. The average response time of the monitor is about ms. The display panel is Anti-glare/Matte.
Color space
The panel has a bit depth of 8 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. The coverage of the Adobe RGB 1998 color space is 75 % according to the manufacturer. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the NTSC 1953 color space is 72 %. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the SRGB color space is 99 %.
Contrast ratio
Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from Samsung has a static contrast ratio of 1000 : 1 , according to the manufacturer.
HDR
The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:
screen design
The following dimensions must be planned for a free-standing stand without attached feet/stand: 34.4 cm x 54.1 cm x 5.8 cm (HxWxD)
If you want to place the monitor described here on the desk without a wall mount, you should allow for 42.1 x 54.1 x 16.9 cm (HxWxD) of space. The device weighs 3.98 kg with the stand in place. Without stand, the monitor weighs 3.38 kg.
Rotate, tilt and swivel
The monitor from Samsung cannot be rotated. The monitor cannot be swiveled. This feature could be retrofitted with a third-party stand. The monitor S24D590PL offers the option of adjusting the tilt as required to create an ergonomic working environment and reduce visual fatigue. The angle of inclination to the rear is 15. The monitor can be tilted forward by 1 degree.
Ports
The monitor can be connected via 1 VGA ports.
camera
This monitor does not have a camera.
Loudspeaker
Features
- Flicker Free: Samsung 's Flicker Free technology minimizes distracting screen flicker, allowing you to work and/or play longer without restrictions.
- The display/monitor supports Frame Rate Compensation.
WiFi / Bluetooth
Power consumption
The average consumption was given by Samsung as 18 w. The maximum power consumption (peak) specified for this monitor is 23 w. In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.5 w. When switched off, on the other hand, the monitor consumes only 0.5 w. S24D590PL supports a static ECO mode, which for example lowers the refresh rate, reduces brightness and disables AI functions to save energy. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.
Environment
The maximum permissible ambient temperature is 40 °C during operation. Below a temperature of 10 °C , the monitor from Samsung should again not be used. The humidity must not exceed 80 percent. At least, however, 10 percent humidity. The monitor may be stored at a maximum humidity of 95 percent. The minimum humidity during storage should not fall below 5 percent. The maximum storage temperature should be according to Samsung 45 °C. Minimal were given by Samsung -20 °C.
