Display, power consumption, dimensions, technologies used, connections, certifications, comfort features. All these keywords can be relevant for a purchase decision, but an exact comparison is often difficult. For this reason, we will summarize as many of the mentioned specifications as possible in an understandable form in the course of this article. Let's start with the most important component of the C32R500 from Samsung.
Display
Let's start with the most important component of a monitor, the display. Depending on the aspect ratio of height and width, monitors can be rather wide or square, for example. Besides the pure physical dimensions, the resolution of the display and thus the quality of the display is also decisive here. For easy comparability, however, screen sizes are usually given in inches. This unit of measurement simply compares the diagonal length from the lower left to the upper right corner of the display and is thus universally applicable. This device has a screen diagonal of 31 inches ( 80.1 cm on the diagonal). Television screens and monitors usually have an aspect ratio of 16:9 (approximately 1.78:1). More rarely, computer monitors are also found with an aspect ratio of 16:10.
Ultrawidemonitors are often manufactured with an aspect ratio of 21:9 (approximately 2.34:1). They are mainly used for computer games and as an alternative to two side-by-side screens. The first devices of this type came onto the market around 2014. Against this backdrop, the monitor C32R500 from Samsung faces an aspect ratio of 1.778 : 1. If you want to pay attention to special aesthetics or simply want to place several monitors next to each other, you should pay attention to the ratio between display and non-display. The C32R500 is a monitor with a ratio of 91.9 % between usable and non-usable front surface. The display is a VA panel. The panel has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 px. The pixel density is 69 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.311 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer Samsung is 250 nt. The monitor's panel reaches a peak brightness of 300 nt. The panel is illuminated by W-LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. Samsung promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 48 hz up to 75 hz. The minimum response time of the monitor is ms. The display panel is Anti-glare/Matte (3H).
Color space
The panel has a bit depth of 8 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the NTSC 1953 color space is 72 %.
Contrast ratio
Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from Samsung has a static contrast ratio of 3000 : 1 , according to the manufacturer. The monitor from Samsung supports adaptive contrast management, dynamically adjusting the contrast ratio of the input signal to ensure razor-sharp image displays. Each scene is continuously analyzed by C32R500 and the images are adjusted accordingly frame by frame. This analysis and dynamic adjustment of contrast is designed to enhance color quality and provide better black levels when displaying dark scenes and shaded/dark image sequences.
HDR
The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:
screen design
The following dimensions must be planned for a free-standing stand without attached feet/stand: 41.9 cm x 71.2 cm x 9.2 cm (HxWxD)
If you want to place the monitor described here on the desk without a wall mount, you should allow for 52 x 71.2 x 26.1 cm (HxWxD) of space. The device weighs in total (i.e. also measured with the stand) 5.9 kg. According to Samsung , you can expect a weight of about 5.1 kg without the stand. Speaking of weight without a stand and thus wall or table mounts. The monitor supports a Vesa mounting.
Curved
The C32R500 is a curved monitor with a curvature of 1.5 m
Rotate, tilt and swivel
The monitor from Samsung cannot be rotated. The monitor cannot be swiveled. This feature could be retrofitted with a third-party stand. The monitor C32R500 offers the option of adjusting the tilt as required to create an ergonomic working environment and reduce visual fatigue. The angle of inclination to the rear is 22. The monitor can be tilted forward by 2 degree.
Ports
The monitor can be connected via 1 VGA ports.
camera
This monitor does not have a camera.
Loudspeaker
Features
- Flicker Free: Samsung 's Flicker Free technology minimizes distracting screen flicker, allowing you to work and/or play longer without restrictions.
- AMD FreeSync: By dynamically synchronizing the refresh rate of the C32R500 with the frame rate, AMD FreeSync minimizes judder and ensures smooth and enjoyable gameplay.
Anyone who works a lot on the computer spends many hours a day in front of the screen. Excessive screen work can damage the eyes. This effect can be particularly pronounced during the darker hours and in the winter months. Many monitor manufacturers have now reacted and offer technologies and settings to reduce the blue component, which is primarily controversial. Depending on the manufacturer, these can be called "Low Blue Light", "Low Blue Light Technology", "SoftBlue" or even "Eye Saver Mode" and function differently. However, it is only important that Samsung offers a technology to reduce the blue content in its monitor C32R500. Game mode allows you to enjoy an enhanced gaming experience on your monitor. This mode can combine different settings on your monitor to provide a better picture and therefore an improved gaming experience.
WiFi / Bluetooth
Power consumption
The maximum power consumption (peak) specified for this monitor is 48 w. In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.3 w. When switched off, on the other hand, the monitor consumes only 0.3 w. C32R500 supports a static ECO mode, which for example lowers the refresh rate, reduces brightness and disables AI functions to save energy. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.
Environment
During operation, the ambient temperature must not exceed 40 °C , to ensure full functionality. Below a temperature of 10 °C , the monitor from Samsung should again not be used. The humidity must not exceed 80 percent. At least, however, 10 percent humidity.
Packaging
The monitor is packaged in a cardboard box measuring 55.7 x 84.3 x 22.9 cm (height x width x depth). The box together with the monitor weighs about 8.6 kg.
