Today we will look at the monitor 43M70A from Samsung from the year 2021. Within this article, we will first take a closer look at the most important feature of a monitor -the display-, then the design, and in the next section we will go into the features of the monitor. Of course, power consumption, certifications, connectivity and other important details will also be considered.

Display

The monitor belongs to the device class 42 inches ( 1.08 m on the diagonal). As already mentioned or known, monitors have a certain number of pixels in height and width. In most cases, this is not a 1:1 ratio, which is also the case with the monitor from Samsung. This monitor has an aspect ratio of 1.778 : 1. This means that every 1.778 pixels in width 1 pixels in height are added. In addition to the aspect ratios and the specified screen diagonal, the ratio between the monitor surface and the actual display could also be relevant for some enthusiasts. This ratio represents the general relationship between non-display and display. In other words: Approximately 92.1 % of the front surface of the monitor consists of the display, while the remaining percent consists of screen edges and is not suitable for image reproduction. If you want to place several monitors next to each other, you should make sure you choose models with the narrowest possible edges. The display is a VA panel. The panel has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 px. The pixel density is 103 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.245 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer Samsung is 300 nt. The panel is illuminated by W-LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. Samsung promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 60 hz up to 60 hz. The minimum response time of the monitor is ms. The display panel is Anti-glare/Matte.

Color space

The panel has a bit depth of 10 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors.

Contrast ratio

Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from Samsung has a static contrast ratio of 5000 : 1 , according to the manufacturer.

HDR

The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:

  • HDR 10

screen design

The monitor has a width of 96.5 cm without its attached stand/stand. The height is dimensioned at about 55.9 cm , while the for the depth of the monitor should be kept free at about 2.5 cm.
The size of the 43M70A on the desk is likely to be particularly relevant for most users. Samsung specifies a space requirement of 62.9 x 96.5 x 24.7 cm (HxWxD) with the included stand. The device weighs in total (i.e. also measured with the stand) 10.6 kg. A wall mount should be designed for at least 8.5 kg to hold the 43M70A neatly and securely. Speaking of weight without a stand and thus wall or table mounts. The monitor supports a Vesa mounting.

Rotate, tilt and swivel

The monitor from Samsung cannot be rotated. The monitor cannot be swiveled. This feature could be retrofitted with a third-party stand. The monitor 43M70A can be tilted. The angle of inclination to the rear is 22. The monitor can be tilted forward by 2 degree.

Ports

camera

Loudspeaker

The monitor from Samsung has integrated speakers, for playing sounds, music or speech. The sound is emitted via 2 speakers, which are integrated into the device. Each of the built-in speakers has a contingent of 5 w power.

Features

  • Flicker Free: Samsung 's Flicker Free technology minimizes distracting screen flicker, allowing you to work and/or play longer without restrictions.
  • The display/monitor supports Frame Rate Compensation.

Anyone who works a lot on the computer spends many hours a day in front of the screen. Excessive screen work can damage the eyes. This effect can be particularly pronounced during the darker hours and in the winter months. Many monitor manufacturers have now reacted and offer technologies and settings to reduce the blue component, which is primarily controversial. Depending on the manufacturer, these can be called "Low Blue Light", "Low Blue Light Technology", "SoftBlue" or even "Eye Saver Mode" and function differently. However, it is only important that Samsung offers a technology to reduce the blue content in its monitor 43M70A. Game mode allows you to enjoy an enhanced gaming experience on your monitor. This mode can combine different settings on your monitor to provide a better picture and therefore an improved gaming experience. The monitor is equipped with the YouTube app, so you can conveniently stream your favorite videos.

AirPlay enables Apple devices to communicate wirelessly with external screens and speakers. This allows presentations, movies, games and music to be streamed to stereo or TV.

WiFi / Bluetooth

This model ( 43M70A ) supports Wi-Fi. This wireless network connection allows devices to display content from a smartphone or tablet, for example, or to download apps from an app store, similar to TVs. However, monitors usually do not have this functionality because they are only operated in connection with a notebook or PC. The protocols are supported: WiFi 802.11a WiFi 802.11ac WiFi 802.11b WiFi 802.11g WiFi 802.11n

Power consumption

In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.5 w. When switched off, on the other hand, the monitor consumes only 0.5 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.

Environment

For temperature, the maximum permissible ambient temperature is 40 °C. Below a temperature of 10 °C , the monitor from Samsung should again not be used. The monitor may be stored at a maximum humidity of 80 percent. The minimum humidity during storage should not fall below 10 percent.

Packaging

The monitor is packaged in a cardboard box measuring 67.7 x 1.198 x 15.9 cm (height x width x depth). The box together with the monitor weighs about 13.7 kg.
