NEC MultiSync P241W

Product image for MultiSync P241W

Display, power consumption, dimensions, technologies used, connections, certifications, comfort features. All these keywords can be relevant for a purchase decision, but an exact comparison is often difficult. For this reason, we will summarize as many of the mentioned specifications as possible in an understandable form in the course of this article. Let's start with the most important component of the MultiSync P241W from NEC.

Display

Videos and/or other applications can be displayed on the monitor's 24 inches ( 61.1 cm on the diagonal). As already mentioned or known, monitors have a certain number of pixels in height and width. In most cases, this is not a 1:1 ratio, which is also the case with the monitor from NEC. This monitor has an aspect ratio of 1.6 : 1. This means that every 1.6 pixels in width 1 pixels in height are added. Approximately 83.1 % of the front of the monitor is taken up by the display, while the remaining area consists of screen edges that cannot display any image information. If you want to set up several monitors next to each other, it is advisable to choose monitors with narrow edges. The display is a e panel. The panel has a resolution of 1920 x 1200 px. The pixel density is 94 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.27 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer NEC is 360 nt. The panel is illuminated by CCFL. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. NEC promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. The refresh rate is horizontally seen at the MultiSync P241W 31.5 khz to 118.4 khz. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 50 hz up to 85 hz. The analog refresh rate of this monitor is 31.5 khz to 93.8 khz. The minimum response time of the monitor is ms. The average response time of the monitor is about ms. The display panel is Anti-glare/Matte (3H).

Color space

The panel has a bit depth of 8 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. The coverage of the Adobe RGB 1998 color space is 75 % according to the manufacturer. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the NTSC 1953 color space is 71 %. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the SRGB color space is 96 %.

Contrast ratio

Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from NEC has a static contrast ratio of 1000 : 1 , according to the manufacturer.

HDR

The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:

screen design

Without the stand, the monitor comes with a width of 55.6 cm , a height of 36.3 cm and about 8.3 cm.
If you want to place the monitor described here on the desk without a wall mount, you should allow for 37.8 x 55.6 x 22.8 cm (HxWxD) of space. As for the weight, NEC states a total weight of 10.8 kg with stand. According to NEC , you can expect a weight of about 7.6 kg without the stand. Speaking of weight without a stand and thus wall or table mounts. The monitor supports a Vesa mounting. A height-adjustable stand ensures an improved ergonomic posture during use. The monitor can be moved to a maximum height of 11 cm. This value is always measured from the bottom edge of the screen.

Rotate, tilt and swivel

The monitor from NEC has a pivot function and can thus be rotated using the included stand. A rotation to the left is possible with up to 0 degree. To the right, the monitor can be rotated by 90 degree. The MultiSync P241W can be swiveled when mounted on the included stand. Pivoting to the left is possible up to 170 degree. Pivoting to the right is possible up to 170 degree. The tilt of the monitor MultiSync P241W can be individually adjusted to optimize the viewing angle and increase comfort during use. The angle of inclination to the rear is 30. The monitor can be tilted forward by 5 degree.

Ports

The monitor can be connected via 1 VGA ports. The connection of a device via display port is supported. There are 1 HDMI ports on the monitor.

Panel manufacturer

Many manufacturers of monitors and TVs fall back on third-party manufacturers, such as Samsung or LG, when choosing the actual display (panel). Thus, many of the monitors have the same panel and, conversely, differ only in their design, additional functionalities, the software used and, of course, the price. Two monitors from NEC or another manufacturer with an identical panel do not necessarily have to have the same picture quality, but it is usually a first indicator for a purchase decision. The panel used here is originally from LG Display and has the model number LM240WU7-SLA1.

NEC has built hardware/software into the MultiSync P241W to control different colored LEDs, most of which are located on the back of the device. Through intelligent control of the LEDs, colors of the image displayed on the monitor are projected onto the wall behind it, which is supposed to be easy on the eyes and at the same time make the image look more immersive. Depending on the manufacturer, this technology is called Ambilight, Ambiglow, Atmolight or HiLight.

Power consumption

The average consumption figure for MultiSync P241W is 60 w. The maximum power consumption (peak) specified for this monitor is 95 w. In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 1 w. MultiSync P241W supports a static ECO mode, which for example lowers the refresh rate, reduces brightness and disables AI functions to save energy. In ECO mode, the monitor consumes 40 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. There are 1.38 amps specified. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.

Environment

The maximum height at which the monitor may be operated, according to the manufacturer's specifications, is 2 km. During operation, the ambient temperature must not exceed 35 °C , to ensure full functionality. Below a temperature of 5 °C , the monitor from NEC should again not be used. The humidity must not exceed 80 percent. At least, however, 30 percent humidity. The monitor may be stored at a maximum humidity of 85 percent. The minimum humidity during storage should not fall below 10 percent. The maximum storage temperature should be according to NEC 60 °C. Minimal were given by NEC -10 °c. According to the manufacturer, the monitor may be stored at a maximum height of 12.192 km.
