NEC MultiSync P232W-BK-SV

Product image for MultiSync P232W-BK-SV

Display, power consumption, dimensions, technologies used, connections, certifications, comfort features. All these keywords can be relevant for a purchase decision, but an exact comparison is often difficult. For this reason, we will summarize as many of the mentioned specifications as possible in an understandable form in the course of this article. Let's start with the most important component of the MultiSync P232W-BK-SV from NEC.

Display

According to the manufacturer, the display measures 23 inches ( 58.4 cm on the diagonal). Let's keep it short and sweet. The monitor has an aspect ratio of 1.778 : 1. In addition to the aspect ratios and the specified screen diagonal, the ratio between the monitor surface and the actual display could also be important for some enthusiasts. This ratio describes the general relationship between the non-display area and the display. In other words, approximately 83.2 % of the front surface of the monitor consists of the display, while the remaining percent consists of screen edges and does not enable image reproduction. When setting up several monitors next to each other, it is advisable to prefer models with the narrowest possible edges. The display is a AH panel. The panel has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 px. The pixel density is 95 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.265 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer NEC is 250 nt. The panel is illuminated by W-LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. NEC promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. The refresh rate is horizontally seen at the MultiSync P232W-BK-SV 31.5 khz to 118.4 khz. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 50 hz up to 85 hz. The analog refresh rate of this monitor is 31.5 khz to 83 khz. The minimum response time of the monitor is ms. The average response time of the monitor is about ms. The display panel is Anti-glare/Matte (3H).

Color space

The panel has a bit depth of 8 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. The coverage of the Adobe RGB 1998 color space is 75 % according to the manufacturer. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the NTSC 1953 color space is 70 %. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the SRGB color space is 96 %.

Contrast ratio

Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from NEC has a static contrast ratio of 1000 : 1 , according to the manufacturer.

HDR

The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:

screen design

For the installation of the monitor, a space requirement of approximately 32.2 cm in height, 54.3 cm in width and 7.4 cm in depth is to be assumed.
The size of the monitor (stand included) is 33.8 x 54.3 x 22.7 cm (HxWxD). The device weighs 9.2 kg with the stand in place. A height-adjustable stand ensures an improved ergonomic posture during use. The monitor can be moved to a maximum height of 15 cm. This value is always measured from the bottom edge of the screen.

Rotate, tilt and swivel

The monitor from NEC has a pivot function and can thus be rotated using the included stand. A rotation to the left is possible with up to 0 degree. To the right, the monitor can be rotated by 90 degree. The MultiSync P232W-BK-SV can be swiveled when mounted on the included stand. Pivoting to the left is possible up to 45 degree. Pivoting to the right is possible up to 45 degree. It is possible to adjust the tilt angle of the monitor MultiSync P232W-BK-SV according to personal preference to ensure ergonomic and comfortable viewing. The angle of inclination to the rear is 30. The monitor can be tilted forward by 5 degree.

Ports

The monitor can be connected via 1 VGA ports. The connection of a device via display port is supported. There are 1 HDMI ports on the monitor.

camera

This monitor does not have a camera.

Panel manufacturer

Many manufacturers of monitors and TVs fall back on third-party manufacturers, such as Samsung or LG, when choosing the actual display (panel). Thus, many of the monitors have the same panel and, conversely, differ only in their design, additional functionalities, the software used and, of course, the price. Two monitors from NEC or another manufacturer with an identical panel do not necessarily have to have the same picture quality, but it is usually a first indicator for a purchase decision. The panel used here is originally from LG Display and has the model number LM230WF3-SLE1.

NEC has built hardware/software into the MultiSync P232W-BK-SV to control different colored LEDs, most of which are located on the back of the device. Through intelligent control of the LEDs, colors of the image displayed on the monitor are projected onto the wall behind it, which is supposed to be easy on the eyes and at the same time make the image look more immersive. Depending on the manufacturer, this technology is called Ambilight, Ambiglow, Atmolight or HiLight.

Power consumption

The average consumption was given by NEC as 23 w. The maximum power consumption (peak) specified for this monitor is 29 w. In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 1 w. MultiSync P232W-BK-SV supports a static ECO mode, which for example lowers the refresh rate, reduces brightness and disables AI functions to save energy. In ECO mode, the monitor consumes 18 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. There are 0.94 amps specified. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.

Environment

The monitor has a built-in ambient light sensor, which can be used, for example, to dynamically adjust the brightness of the monitor to the ambient conditions. The maximum height at which the monitor may be operated, according to the manufacturer's specifications, is 2 km. The maximum permissible ambient temperature is 35 °C during operation. Below a temperature of 5 °C , the monitor from NEC should again not be used. The humidity must not exceed 80 percent. At least, however, 30 percent humidity. The monitor may be stored at a maximum humidity of 85 percent. The minimum humidity during storage should not fall below 10 percent. The maximum storage temperature should be according to NEC 60 °C. Minimal were given by NEC -10 °c. According to the manufacturer, the monitor may be stored at a maximum height of 12.192 km.
