NEC MultiSync PA311D

Product image for MultiSync PA311D

Within this article we will take a closer look at the technical specifications of the MultiSync PA311D monitor from NEC. For this we will talk about all possible categories that could be relevant. To start with, we will look at the display, talk about the design and in the next section we will go into the features of the monitor. Other features such as power consumption, connectors and certifications will follow later in the text.

Display

Videos and/or other applications can be displayed on the monitor's 31 inches ( 78.9 cm on the diagonal). As already known, two monitors with different outer dimensions can have the same screen diagonal. In the case of the monitor MultiSync PA311D , we find an aspect ratio of 1.896 to 1. This means that for every 1 pixels in height, 1.896 pixels in width are added. For comparison: A classic CRT monitor had an aspect ratio of 4:3. If you want to pay attention to special aesthetics or simply want to place several monitors next to each other, you should pay attention to the ratio between display and non-display. The MultiSync PA311D is a monitor with a ratio of 84.1 % between usable and non-usable front surface. The display is a IPS panel. The panel has a resolution of 4096 x 2160 px. The pixel density is 149 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.17 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer NEC is 350 nt. The panel is illuminated by W-LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. NEC promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. The refresh rate is horizontally seen at the MultiSync PA311D 15 khz to 135 khz. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 24 hz up to 75 hz. The average response time of the monitor is about ms. The display panel is Anti-glare/Matte.

Color space

The panel has a bit depth of 10 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. The coverage of the Adobe RGB 1998 color space is 152 % according to the manufacturer. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the DCI-P3 color space is 98 %. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the NTSC 1953 color space is 107 %. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the SRGB color space is 112 %.

Contrast ratio

Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from NEC has a static contrast ratio of 1400 : 1 , according to the manufacturer.

HDR

The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:

  • HDR
  • HDR HLG

screen design

For a possible wall mounting or comparison to the currently owned monitor at the beginning, the dimensions of the monitor without stand/feet: 41.3 cm x 73.7 cm x 7.9 cm (HxWxD)
If you want to place the monitor described here on the desk without a wall mount, you should allow for 43.3 x 73.7 x 30.1 cm (HxWxD) of space. As for the weight, NEC states a total weight of 14.9 kg with stand. Without stand, the monitor weighs 8.6 kg. Speaking of weight without a stand and thus wall or table mounts. The monitor supports a Vesa mounting. A height-adjustable stand ensures an improved ergonomic posture during use. The monitor can be moved to a maximum height of 15 cm. This value is always measured from the bottom edge of the screen.

Rotate, tilt and swivel

The MultiSync PA311D can be swiveled when mounted on the included stand. Pivoting to the left is possible up to 45 degree. Pivoting to the right is possible up to 45 degree. The monitor MultiSync PA311D can be tilted. The angle of inclination to the rear is 30. The monitor can be tilted forward by 5 degree.

Ports

The monitor named ' MultiSync PA311D ' has 1 RJ45 Ethernet port(s), which enables a wired network connection. This port offers users the possibility to connect the device directly to a wired network, which can be beneficial in environments with a reliable and fast internet connection.

Features

  • Flicker Free: NEC 's Flicker Free technology minimizes distracting screen flicker, allowing you to work and/or play longer without restrictions.
  • Picture in Picture mode

Anyone who works a lot on the computer spends many hours a day in front of the screen. Excessive screen work can damage the eyes. This effect can be particularly pronounced during the darker hours and in the winter months. Many monitor manufacturers have now reacted and offer technologies and settings to reduce the blue component, which is primarily controversial. Depending on the manufacturer, these can be called "Low Blue Light", "Low Blue Light Technology", "SoftBlue" or even "Eye Saver Mode" and function differently. However, it is only important that NEC offers a technology to reduce the blue content in its monitor MultiSync PA311D. Ambix technology allows multiple devices such as computers, laptops, video devices and other sources to be connected to the monitor or TV simultaneously. This allows users to seamlessly switch between input sources and view content from different sources without having to reconnect cables each time.

NEC has built hardware/software into the MultiSync PA311D to control different colored LEDs, most of which are located on the back of the device. Through intelligent control of the LEDs, colors of the image displayed on the monitor are projected onto the wall behind it, which is supposed to be easy on the eyes and at the same time make the image look more immersive. Depending on the manufacturer, this technology is called Ambilight, Ambiglow, Atmolight or HiLight.

Power consumption

The average consumption figure for MultiSync PA311D is 60 w. The maximum power consumption (peak) specified for this monitor is 84 w. In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.5 w. In ECO mode, the monitor consumes 35 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.

Environment

The maximum height at which the monitor may be operated, according to the manufacturer's specifications, is 5 km. The maximum permissible ambient temperature is 35 °C during operation. Below a temperature of 5 °C , the monitor from NEC should again not be used. The humidity must not exceed 80 percent. At least, however, 20 percent humidity. The monitor may be stored at a maximum humidity of 85 percent. The minimum humidity during storage should not fall below 10 percent. The maximum storage temperature should be according to NEC 60 °C. Minimal were given by NEC -20 °C. According to the manufacturer, the monitor may be stored at a maximum height of 12.192 km.
