Display, power consumption, dimensions, technologies used, connections, certifications, comfort features. All these keywords can be relevant for a purchase decision, but an exact comparison is often difficult. For this reason, we will summarize as many of the mentioned specifications as possible in an understandable form in the course of this article. Let's start with the most important component of the Optix MEG381CQR Plus from MSI.
Display
37 inches ( 95.2 cm on the diagonal) offer sufficient space for texts in any office applications, for example. As already known, two monitors with different outer dimensions can have the same screen diagonal. In the case of the monitor Optix MEG381CQR Plus , we find an aspect ratio of 2.4 to 1. This means that for every 1 pixels in height, 2.4 pixels in width are added. For comparison: A classic CRT monitor had an aspect ratio of 4:3. The display is a IPS panel. The panel has a resolution of 3840 x 1600 px. The pixel density is 109 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.229 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer MSI is 400 nt. The monitor's panel reaches a peak brightness of 600 nt. The panel is illuminated by W-LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. MSI promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. The display panel is Anti-glare/Matte (3H).
Color space
The panel has a bit depth of 10 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the DCI-P3 color space is 96 %. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the SRGB color space is 128 %.
Contrast ratio
Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from MSI has a static contrast ratio of 1000 : 1 , according to the manufacturer. In contrast to the static contrast ratio, the dynamic contrast ratio changes the brightness of the panel itself in addition to the difference measurement from black to white. In addition to the difference between the brightest and the darkest pixel, the backlight is thus changed. Since the brightness of the panel may not be able to be adjusted exactly to a single pixel, a so-called halo effect is possible. The value of 100000000 : 1 of dynamic contrast ratio for the monitor Optix MEG381CQR Plus cannot provide any information about the severity of the halo effect here. Therefore, it is more useful to compare the static contrast ratio.
HDR
The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:
- HDR 600
screen design
If you want to place the monitor described here on the desk without a wall mount, you should allow for 46.6 x 89.6 x 32.5 cm (HxWxD) of space. The base itself has a depth of 32.5 cm. The device weighs 10.7 kg with the stand in place. A height-adjustable stand ensures an improved ergonomic posture during use. The monitor can be moved to a maximum height of 10 cm. This value is always measured from the bottom edge of the screen. The monitor has built-in RGB lighting. On some monitors, RGB lights are often used as "backlighting" or "ambient lighting". These may be placed on the back of the monitor and illuminate the screen outline or the space behind the monitor. Some monitors, on the other hand, use RGB lighting on the front or bottom of the screen to create visual effects that can be synchronized with the content being displayed.
Curved
The Optix MEG381CQR Plus is a curved monitor with a curvature of 2.3 m
Rotate, tilt and swivel
The monitor from MSI cannot be rotated. The monitor cannot be swiveled. This feature could be retrofitted with a third-party stand. Thanks to the tilt function of the Optix MEG381CQR Plus monitor, the screen position can be flexibly adjusted to minimize dazzling light sources and ensure optimum visibility. The angle of inclination to the rear is 20. The monitor can be tilted forward by 5 degree.
Ports
camera
This monitor does not have a camera.
Loudspeaker
The monitor from MSI has integrated speakers, for playing sounds, music or speech. The sound is emitted via 2 speakers, which are integrated into the device. Each of the built-in speakers has a contingent of 10 w power.
Features
- Flicker Free: MSI 's Flicker Free technology minimizes distracting screen flicker, allowing you to work and/or play longer without restrictions.
- Nvidia G-SYNC Ultimate
- The display/monitor supports Frame Rate Compensation.
Anyone who works a lot on the computer spends many hours a day in front of the screen. Excessive screen work can damage the eyes. This effect can be particularly pronounced during the darker hours and in the winter months. Many monitor manufacturers have now reacted and offer technologies and settings to reduce the blue component, which is primarily controversial. Depending on the manufacturer, these can be called "Low Blue Light", "Low Blue Light Technology", "SoftBlue" or even "Eye Saver Mode" and function differently. However, it is only important that MSI offers a technology to reduce the blue content in its monitor Optix MEG381CQR Plus.
Panel manufacturer
Many manufacturers of monitors and TVs fall back on third-party manufacturers, such as Samsung or LG, when choosing the actual display (panel). Thus, many of the monitors have the same panel and, conversely, differ only in their design, additional functionalities, the software used and, of course, the price. Two monitors from MSI or another manufacturer with an identical panel do not necessarily have to have the same picture quality, but it is usually a first indicator for a purchase decision. The panel used here is originally from LG and has the model number LM375QW2-SSA1.
WiFi / Bluetooth
Power consumption
On average, the monitor consumes approximately 47 w. In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.5 w. When switched off, on the other hand, the monitor consumes only 0.3 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.
Environment
During operation, the ambient temperature must not exceed 40 °C , to ensure full functionality. Below a temperature of 0 °C , the monitor from MSI should again not be used. The humidity must not exceed 80 percent. At least, however, 10 percent humidity. The monitor may be stored at a maximum humidity of 85 percent. The minimum humidity during storage should not fall below 5 percent. The maximum storage temperature should be according to MSI 60 °C. Minimal were given by MSI -20 °C.
Packaging
The monitor is packaged in a cardboard box measuring 58.5 x 100 x 28 cm (height x width x depth). The box together with the monitor weighs about 14.8 kg.
