Within this article we will take a closer look at the technical specifications of the 32MU59 monitor from LG. For this we will talk about all possible categories that could be relevant. To start with, we will look at the display, talk about the design and in the next section we will go into the features of the monitor. Other features such as power consumption, connectors and certifications will follow later in the text.
Display
Let's start with the size of the display. It is 31 inches ( 80.1 cm on the diagonal) large and should thus offer enough space for all contents according to LG. Let's keep it short and sweet. The monitor has an aspect ratio of 1.778 : 1. Approximately 88.7 % of the front of the monitor is taken up by the display, while the remaining area consists of screen edges that cannot display any image information. If you want to set up several monitors next to each other, it is advisable to choose monitors with narrow edges. The display is a VA panel. The panel has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 px. The pixel density is 139 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.182 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer LG is 300 nt. The panel is illuminated by W-LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. LG promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. The refresh rate is horizontally seen at the 32MU59 30 khz to 135 khz. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 56 hz up to 61 hz. The minimum response time of the monitor is ms. The display panel is Anti-glare/Matte (3H).
Color space
The panel has a bit depth of 10 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the DCI-P3 color space is 95 %. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the SRGB color space is 99 %.
Contrast ratio
Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from LG has a static contrast ratio of 3000 : 1 , according to the manufacturer.
HDR
The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:
screen design
Without the stand, the monitor comes with a width of 72.9 cm , a height of 42.4 cm and about 5 cm.
The size of the 32MU59 on the desk is likely to be particularly relevant for most users. LG specifies a space requirement of 45.7 x 72.9 x 23.6 cm (HxWxD) with the included stand. As for the weight, LG states a total weight of 7.1 kg with stand. Without stand, the monitor weighs 5.3 kg. Speaking of weight without a stand and thus wall or table mounts. The monitor supports a Vesa mounting. A height-adjustable stand ensures an improved ergonomic posture during use. The monitor can be moved to a maximum height of 12 cm. This value is always measured from the bottom edge of the screen.
Rotate, tilt and swivel
The monitor from LG cannot be rotated. The monitor cannot be swiveled. This feature could be retrofitted with a third-party stand. The monitor 32MU59 offers the option of adjusting the tilt as required to create an ergonomic working environment and reduce visual fatigue. The angle of inclination to the rear is 20. The monitor can be tilted forward by 5 degree.
Ports
camera
This monitor does not have a camera.
Loudspeaker
The monitor from LG has integrated speakers, for playing sounds, music or speech. The sound is emitted via 2 speakers, which are integrated into the device. Each of the built-in speakers has a contingent of 5 w power.
Features
- Flicker Free: LG 's Flicker Free technology minimizes distracting screen flicker, allowing you to work and/or play longer without restrictions.
- AMD FreeSync: By dynamically synchronizing the refresh rate of the 32MU59 with the frame rate, AMD FreeSync minimizes judder and ensures smooth and enjoyable gameplay.
- Picture in Picture mode
- The display/monitor supports Frame Rate Compensation.
The monitor from LG supports the reduction of artifacts within dark image areas, which are caused by compression of the played video files, for example. Depending on the manufacturer, this technology is called Black Boost, Dark Boost, Black Stabilizer, Black Equalizer or Black Enhancement.
WiFi / Bluetooth
Power consumption
The average consumption figure for 32MU59 is 50 w. In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.5 w. When switched off, on the other hand, the monitor consumes only 0.3 w. In ECO mode, the monitor consumes 39 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. There are 3.3 amps specified. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.
Environment
During operation, the ambient temperature must not exceed 40 °C , to ensure full functionality. Below a temperature of 0 °C , the monitor from LG should again not be used. The humidity must not exceed 80 percent. At least, however, 10 percent humidity. The monitor may be stored at a maximum humidity of 85 percent. The minimum humidity during storage should not fall below 5 percent. The maximum storage temperature should be according to LG 60 °C. Minimal were given by LG -20 °C.
