Product image for ProLite XB2780HSU-B1

Within this article we will take a closer look at the technical specifications of the ProLite XB2780HSU-B1 monitor from Iiyama. For this we will talk about all possible categories that could be relevant. To start with, we will look at the display, talk about the design and in the next section we will go into the features of the monitor. Other features such as power consumption, connectors and certifications will follow later in the text.

Display

Any multimedia content can be displayed on 27 inches ( 68.5 cm on the diagonal). Television screens and monitors usually have an aspect ratio of 16:9 (approximately 1.78:1). More rarely, computer monitors are also found with an aspect ratio of 16:10.
Ultrawidemonitors are often manufactured with an aspect ratio of 21:9 (approximately 2.34:1). They are mainly used for computer games and as an alternative to two side-by-side screens. The first devices of this type came onto the market around 2014. Against this backdrop, the monitor ProLite XB2780HSU-B1 from Iiyama faces an aspect ratio of 1.778 : 1.
Around 79.7 % of the front surface of the monitor consists of the display, while the rest is made up of screen edges that cannot display images. If you want to place several monitors next to each other, it is advisable to prefer those with narrow edges. The display is a MVA panel. The panel has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 px. The pixel density is 81 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.311 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer Iiyama is 300 nt. The panel is illuminated by W-LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. Iiyama promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. The refresh rate is horizontally seen at the ProLite XB2780HSU-B1 30 khz to 80 khz. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 56 hz up to 70 hz. The analog refresh rate of this monitor is 24 khz to 80 khz. The frame rate in the analogue range is vertical at the ProLite XB2780HSU-B1 56 hz to 70 hz. The minimum response time of the monitor is ms. The average response time of the monitor is about ms. The display panel is Anti-glare/Matte (3H).

Color space

The panel has a bit depth of 8 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the NTSC 1953 color space is 72 %.

Contrast ratio

Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from Iiyama has a static contrast ratio of 5000 : 1 , according to the manufacturer. In contrast to the static contrast ratio, the dynamic contrast ratio changes the brightness of the panel itself in addition to the difference measurement from black to white. In addition to the difference between the brightest and the darkest pixel, the backlight is thus changed. Since the brightness of the panel may not be able to be adjusted exactly to a single pixel, a so-called halo effect is possible. The value of 5000000 : 1 of dynamic contrast ratio for the monitor ProLite XB2780HSU-B1 cannot provide any information about the severity of the halo effect here. Therefore, it is more useful to compare the static contrast ratio.

HDR

The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:

screen design

For a possible wall mounting or comparison to the currently owned monitor at the beginning, the dimensions of the monitor without stand/feet: 39.2 cm x 64.2 cm x 6.5 cm (HxWxD)
If you want to place the monitor described here on the desk without a wall mount, you should allow for 43.8 x 64.2 x 25 cm (HxWxD) of space. The device weighs 7.6 kg with the stand in place. A height-adjustable stand ensures an improved ergonomic posture during use. The monitor can be moved to a maximum height of 11 cm. This value is always measured from the bottom edge of the screen.

Rotate, tilt and swivel

The monitor from Iiyama has a pivot function and can thus be rotated using the included stand. A rotation to the left is possible with up to 0 degree. To the right, the monitor can be rotated by 90 degree. The ProLite XB2780HSU-B1 can be swiveled when mounted on the included stand. Pivoting to the left is possible up to 170 degree. Pivoting to the right is possible up to 170 degree. The monitor ProLite XB2780HSU-B1 offers the option of adjusting the tilt as required to create an ergonomic working environment and reduce visual fatigue. The angle of inclination to the rear is 22. The monitor can be tilted forward by 4 degree.

Ports

The monitor can be connected via 1 VGA ports. There are 1 HDMI ports on the monitor.

camera

This monitor does not have a camera.

Loudspeaker

The monitor from Iiyama has integrated speakers, for playing sounds, music or speech. The sound is emitted via 2 speakers, which are integrated into the device. Each of the built-in speakers has a contingent of 2 w power.

Features

  • Flicker Free: Iiyama 's Flicker Free technology minimizes distracting screen flicker, allowing you to work and/or play longer without restrictions.

Anyone who works a lot on the computer spends many hours a day in front of the screen. Excessive screen work can damage the eyes. This effect can be particularly pronounced during the darker hours and in the winter months. Many monitor manufacturers have now reacted and offer technologies and settings to reduce the blue component, which is primarily controversial. Depending on the manufacturer, these can be called "Low Blue Light", "Low Blue Light Technology", "SoftBlue" or even "Eye Saver Mode" and function differently. However, it is only important that Iiyama offers a technology to reduce the blue content in its monitor ProLite XB2780HSU-B1.

Panel manufacturer

Many manufacturers of monitors and TVs fall back on third-party manufacturers, such as Samsung or LG, when choosing the actual display (panel). Thus, many of the monitors have the same panel and, conversely, differ only in their design, additional functionalities, the software used and, of course, the price. Two monitors from Iiyama or another manufacturer with an identical panel do not necessarily have to have the same picture quality, but it is usually a first indicator for a purchase decision. The panel used here is originally from AU Optronics and has the model number M270HW02 V1.

Power consumption

The average consumption figure for ProLite XB2780HSU-B1 is 35 w. The maximum power consumption (peak) specified for this monitor is 41 w. In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.5 w. In ECO mode, the monitor consumes 17 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. There are 1.5 amps specified. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.

Environment

For temperature, the maximum permissible ambient temperature is 35 °C. Below a temperature of 5 °C , the monitor from Iiyama should again not be used. The humidity must not exceed 80 percent. At least, however, 10 percent humidity. The monitor may be stored at a maximum humidity of 85 percent. The minimum humidity during storage should not fall below 5 percent. The maximum storage temperature should be according to Iiyama 60 °C. Minimal were given by Iiyama -20 °C.
