Product image for ProLite XU2492HSU-B6

Within this article we will take a closer look at the technical specifications of the ProLite XU2492HSU-B6 monitor from Iiyama. For this we will talk about all possible categories that could be relevant. To start with, we will look at the display, talk about the design and in the next section we will go into the features of the monitor. Other features such as power consumption, connectors and certifications will follow later in the text.

Display

Let's start with the most important component of a monitor, the display. Depending on the aspect ratio of height and width, monitors can be rather wide or square, for example. Besides the pure physical dimensions, the resolution of the display and thus the quality of the display is also decisive here. For easy comparability, however, screen sizes are usually given in inches. This unit of measurement simply compares the diagonal length from the lower left to the upper right corner of the display and is thus universally applicable. This device has a screen diagonal of 23 inches ( 60.4 cm on the diagonal). For books or documents, a portrait format layout is usually used because the reading flow decreases as the width of the text increases. For small diagonals, screens in 4:3 format have a clear advantage because they are better suited for display due to their height. In contrast, widescreen monitors are better suited for playing video games or displaying several documents side by side, for example. Depending on the application, it should be decided individually whether the aspect ratio of 1.778 : 1 is sufficient. In addition to the aspect ratios and the specified screen diagonal, the ratio between the monitor surface and the actual display could also be important for some enthusiasts. This ratio describes the general relationship between the non-display area and the display. In other words, approximately 89.5 % of the front surface of the monitor consists of the display, while the remaining percent consists of screen edges and does not enable image reproduction. When setting up several monitors next to each other, it is advisable to prefer models with the narrowest possible edges. The display is a IPS panel. The panel has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 px. The pixel density is 92 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.275 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer Iiyama is 250 nt. The panel is illuminated by W-LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. Iiyama promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. The refresh rate is horizontally seen at the ProLite XU2492HSU-B6 30 khz to 80 khz. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 55 hz up to 75 hz. The minimum response time of the monitor is ms. The average response time of the monitor is about ms. The display panel is Anti-glare/Matte (3H).

Color space

The panel has a bit depth of 8 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the NTSC 1953 color space is 72 %.

Contrast ratio

Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from Iiyama has a static contrast ratio of 1000 : 1 , according to the manufacturer. In contrast to the static contrast ratio, the dynamic contrast ratio changes the brightness of the panel itself in addition to the difference measurement from black to white. In addition to the difference between the brightest and the darkest pixel, the backlight is thus changed. Since the brightness of the panel may not be able to be adjusted exactly to a single pixel, a so-called halo effect is possible. The value of 5000000 : 1 of dynamic contrast ratio for the monitor ProLite XU2492HSU-B6 cannot provide any information about the severity of the halo effect here. Therefore, it is more useful to compare the static contrast ratio.

HDR

The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:

screen design

Without the stand, the monitor comes with a width of 53.9 cm , a height of 32.3 cm and about 5.2 cm.
The size of the ProLite XU2492HSU-B6 on the desk is likely to be particularly relevant for most users. Iiyama specifies a space requirement of 39.4 x 53.9 x 19.6 cm (HxWxD) with the included stand. The device weighs in total (i.e. also measured with the stand) 3.6 kg. According to Iiyama , you can expect a weight of about 3.3 kg without the stand. Speaking of weight without a stand and thus wall or table mounts. The monitor supports a Vesa mounting.

Rotate, tilt and swivel

The monitor from Iiyama cannot be rotated. The monitor cannot be swiveled. This feature could be retrofitted with a third-party stand. The tilt of the monitor ProLite XU2492HSU-B6 can be individually adjusted to optimize the viewing angle and increase comfort during use. The angle of inclination to the rear is 22. The monitor can be tilted forward by 5 degree.

Ports

The monitor can be connected via 1 VGA ports. There are 1 HDMI ports on the monitor.

camera

This monitor does not have a camera.

Loudspeaker

The monitor from Iiyama has integrated speakers, for playing sounds, music or speech. The sound is emitted via 2 speakers, which are integrated into the device. Each of the built-in speakers has a contingent of 2 w power.

Features

  • Flicker Free: Iiyama 's Flicker Free technology minimizes distracting screen flicker, allowing you to work and/or play longer without restrictions.
  • The display/monitor supports Frame Rate Compensation.

Anyone who works a lot on the computer spends many hours a day in front of the screen. Excessive screen work can damage the eyes. This effect can be particularly pronounced during the darker hours and in the winter months. Many monitor manufacturers have now reacted and offer technologies and settings to reduce the blue component, which is primarily controversial. Depending on the manufacturer, these can be called "Low Blue Light", "Low Blue Light Technology", "SoftBlue" or even "Eye Saver Mode" and function differently. However, it is only important that Iiyama offers a technology to reduce the blue content in its monitor ProLite XU2492HSU-B6. "Overdrive" is a feature of the ProLite XU2492HSU-B6 , which improves the response time of the pixels to reduce motion blur. This involves increasing the voltage of the pixels to make them switch more quickly between color values. This allows fast-moving images and videos to be displayed more clearly and smoothly. However, too high an overdrive setting, even on this model from Iiyama , can lead to so-called "ghosting", where a shadow image of the previous image is visible on the current image. It is therefore important to configure the overdrive settings appropriately depending on the monitor and application.

WiFi / Bluetooth

Power consumption

The average consumption was given by Iiyama as 16 w. In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.5 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. There are 1.5 amps specified. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.

Environment

During operation, the ambient temperature must not exceed 35 °C , to ensure full functionality. Below a temperature of 5 °C , the monitor from Iiyama should again not be used. The humidity must not exceed 80 percent. At least, however, 10 percent humidity. The monitor may be stored at a maximum humidity of 85 percent. The minimum humidity during storage should not fall below 5 percent. The maximum storage temperature should be according to Iiyama 60 °C. Minimal were given by Iiyama -20 °C.
