Iiyama ProLite X3272UHS

Product image for ProLite X3272UHS

Today we will look at the monitor ProLite X3272UHS from Iiyama from the year 2017. Within this article, we will first take a closer look at the most important feature of a monitor -the display-, then the design, and in the next section we will go into the features of the monitor. Of course, power consumption, certifications, connectivity and other important details will also be considered.

Display

Games, texts, videos and/or other applications can be displayed on the monitor's 31 inches ( 80.1 cm on the diagonal). Let's keep it short and sweet. The monitor has an aspect ratio of 1.778 : 1. In addition to the aspect ratios and the specified screen diagonal, the ratio between the monitor surface and the actual display could also be relevant for some enthusiasts. This ratio represents the general relationship between non-display and display. In other words: Approximately 86 % of the front surface of the monitor consists of the display, while the remaining percent consists of screen edges and is not suitable for image reproduction. If you want to place several monitors next to each other, you should make sure you choose models with the narrowest possible edges. The display is a VA panel. The panel has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 px. The pixel density is 140 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.181 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer Iiyama is 300 nt. The panel is illuminated by W-LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. Iiyama promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. The refresh rate is horizontally seen at the ProLite X3272UHS 30 khz to 135 khz. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 24 hz up to 75 hz. The minimum response time of the monitor is ms. The maximum response time of the monitor is ms. The average response time of the monitor is about ms. The display panel is Anti-glare/Matte (3H).

Color space

The panel has a bit depth of 10 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. The coverage of the Adobe RGB 1998 color space is 89 % according to the manufacturer. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the SRGB color space is 100 %.

Contrast ratio

Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from Iiyama has a static contrast ratio of 3000 : 1 , according to the manufacturer. In contrast to the static contrast ratio, the dynamic contrast ratio changes the brightness of the panel itself in addition to the difference measurement from black to white. In addition to the difference between the brightest and the darkest pixel, the backlight is thus changed. Since the brightness of the panel may not be able to be adjusted exactly to a single pixel, a so-called halo effect is possible. The value of 5000000 : 1 of dynamic contrast ratio for the monitor ProLite X3272UHS cannot provide any information about the severity of the halo effect here. Therefore, it is more useful to compare the static contrast ratio.

HDR

The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:

screen design

For a possible wall mounting or comparison to the currently owned monitor at the beginning, the dimensions of the monitor without stand/feet: 43.3 cm x 72.9 cm x 6.4 cm (HxWxD)
The size of the monitor (stand included) is 54.6 x 72.9 x 25.4 cm (HxWxD). The device weighs 6.8 kg with the stand in place.

Rotate, tilt and swivel

The monitor from Iiyama cannot be rotated. The monitor cannot be swiveled. This feature could be retrofitted with a third-party stand. It is possible to adjust the tilt angle of the monitor ProLite X3272UHS according to personal preference to ensure ergonomic and comfortable viewing. The angle of inclination to the rear is 12. The monitor can be tilted forward by 4 degree.

Ports

camera

This monitor does not have a camera.

Loudspeaker

The monitor from Iiyama has integrated speakers, for playing sounds, music or speech. The sound is emitted via 2 speakers, which are integrated into the device. Each of the built-in speakers has a contingent of 2 w power.

Features

  • Flicker Free: Iiyama 's Flicker Free technology minimizes distracting screen flicker, allowing you to work and/or play longer without restrictions.
  • Picture in Picture mode
  • The display/monitor supports Frame Rate Compensation.

"Overdrive" is a feature of the ProLite X3272UHS , which improves the response time of the pixels to reduce motion blur. This involves increasing the voltage of the pixels to make them switch more quickly between color values. This allows fast-moving images and videos to be displayed more clearly and smoothly. However, too high an overdrive setting, even on this model from Iiyama , can lead to so-called "ghosting", where a shadow image of the previous image is visible on the current image. It is therefore important to configure the overdrive settings appropriately depending on the monitor and application.

WiFi / Bluetooth

Power consumption

The average consumption was given by Iiyama as 45 w. The maximum power consumption (peak) specified for this monitor is 52 w. In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.5 w. ProLite X3272UHS supports a static ECO mode, which for example lowers the refresh rate, reduces brightness and disables AI functions to save energy. In ECO mode, the monitor consumes 28 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. There are 1.5 amps specified. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.

Environment

For temperature, the maximum permissible ambient temperature is 35 °C. Below a temperature of 5 °C , the monitor from Iiyama should again not be used. The humidity must not exceed 80 percent. At least, however, 10 percent humidity. The monitor may be stored at a maximum humidity of 85 percent. The minimum humidity during storage should not fall below 5 percent. The maximum storage temperature should be according to Iiyama 60 °C. Minimal were given by Iiyama -20 °C.
