HP DreamColor Z27x G2

Product image for DreamColor Z27x G2

Within this article we will take a closer look at the technical specifications of the DreamColor Z27x G2 monitor from HP. For this we will talk about all possible categories that could be relevant. To start with, we will look at the display, talk about the design and in the next section we will go into the features of the monitor. Other features such as power consumption, connectors and certifications will follow later in the text.

Display

Let's start with the size of the actual display. This information is given in inches and measures the screen diagonal of the display. It can happen that displays with the same size specification have different dimensions, since square monitors, for example, can belong to the same category as a widescreen monitor. The monitor from HP in this article has a size of 27 inches ( 68.5 cm on the diagonal). As already known, two monitors with different outer dimensions can have the same screen diagonal. In the case of the monitor DreamColor Z27x G2 , we find an aspect ratio of 1.778 to 1. This means that for every 1 pixels in height, 1.778 pixels in width are added. For comparison: A classic CRT monitor had an aspect ratio of 4:3. In addition to the aspect ratios and the specified screen diagonal, some enthusiasts may also be interested in the ratio between the monitor surface and the actual display. This ratio describes the general relationship between non-display and display. In other words, approximately 81.6 % of the front surface of the monitor consists of the display, while the rest consists of screen edges and cannot display an image. When setting up several monitors next to each other, it is advisable to give preference to models with the narrowest possible edges. The display is a IPS panel. The panel has a resolution of 2560 x 1440 px. The pixel density is 109 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.233 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer HP is 250 nt. The panel is illuminated by W-LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. HP promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. The refresh rate is horizontally seen at the DreamColor Z27x G2 27 khz to 90 khz. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 24 hz up to 60 hz. The minimum response time of the monitor is ms. The average response time of the monitor is about ms. The display panel is Anti-glare/Matte.

Color space

The panel has a bit depth of 10 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. The coverage of the Adobe RGB 1998 color space is 98 % according to the manufacturer. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the DCI-P3 color space is 99 %. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the SRGB color space is 100 %.

Contrast ratio

Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from HP has a static contrast ratio of 1500 : 1 , according to the manufacturer. In contrast to the static contrast ratio, the dynamic contrast ratio changes the brightness of the panel itself in addition to the difference measurement from black to white. In addition to the difference between the brightest and the darkest pixel, the backlight is thus changed. Since the brightness of the panel may not be able to be adjusted exactly to a single pixel, a so-called halo effect is possible. The value of 10000000 : 1 of dynamic contrast ratio for the monitor DreamColor Z27x G2 cannot provide any information about the severity of the halo effect here. Therefore, it is more useful to compare the static contrast ratio.

HDR

The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:

screen design

The monitor has a width of 64.2 cm without its attached stand/stand. The height is dimensioned at about 38.2 cm , while the for the depth of the monitor should be kept free at about 8.2 cm.
The size of the DreamColor Z27x G2 on the desk is likely to be particularly relevant for most users. HP specifies a space requirement of 57.2 x 64.2 x 24.8 cm (HxWxD) with the included stand. The device weighs 12.1 kg with the stand in place. According to HP , you can expect a weight of about 7.4 kg without the stand. Speaking of weight without a stand and thus wall or table mounts. The monitor supports a Vesa mounting. A height-adjustable stand ensures an improved ergonomic posture during use. The monitor can be moved to a maximum height of 12 cm. This value is always measured from the bottom edge of the screen.

Rotate, tilt and swivel

The monitor from HP cannot be rotated. The DreamColor Z27x G2 can be swiveled when mounted on the included stand. Pivoting to the left is possible up to 45 degree. Pivoting to the right is possible up to 45 degree. The tilt of the monitor DreamColor Z27x G2 can be individually adjusted to optimize the viewing angle and increase comfort during use. The angle of inclination to the rear is 22. The monitor can be tilted forward by 5 degree.

Ports

The ' DreamColor Z27x G2 ' monitor is equipped with 1 RJ45 Ethernet port(s) that allow direct connection to wired networks. This feature opens up the possibility for users to benefit from a stable and potentially higher network speed, especially in situations where a reliable Internet connection is essential.

Features

  • Flicker Free: HP 's Flicker Free technology minimizes distracting screen flicker, allowing you to work and/or play longer without restrictions.
  • Picture in Picture mode

Anyone who works a lot on the computer spends many hours a day in front of the screen. Excessive screen work can damage the eyes. This effect can be particularly pronounced during the darker hours and in the winter months. Many monitor manufacturers have now reacted and offer technologies and settings to reduce the blue component, which is primarily controversial. Depending on the manufacturer, these can be called "Low Blue Light", "Low Blue Light Technology", "SoftBlue" or even "Eye Saver Mode" and function differently. However, it is only important that HP offers a technology to reduce the blue content in its monitor DreamColor Z27x G2.

Power consumption

The average consumption was given by HP as 65 w. The maximum power consumption (peak) specified for this monitor is 160 w. In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.5 w. When switched off, on the other hand, the monitor consumes only 0.5 w. In ECO mode, the monitor consumes 44 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.

Environment

The maximum height at which the monitor may be operated, according to the manufacturer's specifications, is 5 km. During operation, the ambient temperature must not exceed 35 °C , to ensure full functionality. Below a temperature of 5 °C , the monitor from HP should again not be used. The humidity must not exceed 80 percent. At least, however, 20 percent humidity. The monitor may be stored at a maximum humidity of 95 percent. The minimum humidity during storage should not fall below 5 percent. The maximum storage temperature should be according to HP 60 °C. Minimal were given by HP -20 °C. According to the manufacturer, the monitor may be stored at a maximum height of 12.192 km.
