Within this article we will take a closer look at the technical specifications of the G27QC A monitor from Gigabyte. For this we will talk about all possible categories that could be relevant. To start with, we will look at the display, talk about the design and in the next section we will go into the features of the monitor. Other features such as power consumption, connectors and certifications will follow later in the text.

Display

Videos and/or other applications can be displayed on the monitor's 27 inches ( 68.4 cm on the diagonal). For books or documents, a portrait format layout is usually used because the reading flow decreases as the width of the text increases. For small diagonals, screens in 4:3 format have a clear advantage because they are better suited for display due to their height. In contrast, widescreen monitors are better suited for playing video games or displaying several documents side by side, for example. Depending on the application, it should be decided individually whether the aspect ratio of 1.778 : 1 is sufficient. In addition to the aspect ratios and the specified screen diagonal, some enthusiasts may also be interested in the ratio between the monitor area and the actual display. This refers to the general ratio between the non-display area and the display. In other words, approximately 89.3 % of the front surface of the monitor consists of the display, while the rest is made up of screen edges and cannot display an image. When arranging several monitors next to each other, it is advisable to choose models with the narrowest possible edges. The display is a VA panel. The panel has a resolution of 2560 x 1440 px. The pixel density is 109 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.233 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer Gigabyte is 250 nt. The panel is illuminated by W-LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. Gigabyte promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 48 hz up to 165 hz. The display panel is Anti-glare/Matte.

Color space

The panel has a bit depth of 8 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the DCI-P3 color space is 88 %. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the SRGB color space is 132 %.

Contrast ratio

Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from Gigabyte has a static contrast ratio of 4000 : 1 , according to the manufacturer.

HDR

The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:

  • HDR

screen design

The monitor has a width of 61 cm without its attached stand/stand. The height is dimensioned at about 36.7 cm , while the for the depth of the monitor should be kept free at about 8.4 cm.
The size of the monitor (stand included) is 48.1 x 61 x 20.3 cm (HxWxD). The device weighs 6.33 kg with the stand in place. A height-adjustable stand ensures an improved ergonomic posture during use. The monitor can be moved to a maximum height of 13 cm. This value is always measured from the bottom edge of the screen.

The monitor G27QC A offers the option of adjusting the tilt as required to create an ergonomic working environment and reduce visual fatigue. The angle of inclination to the rear is 20. The monitor can be tilted forward by 5 degree.

In addition, AMD FreeSync Premium guarantees that the monitor operates at a minimum of 120Hz at FHD and low framerate compensation (LFC) is available.

Anyone who works a lot on the computer spends many hours a day in front of the screen. Excessive screen work can damage the eyes. This effect can be particularly pronounced during the darker hours and in the winter months. Many monitor manufacturers have now reacted and offer technologies and settings to reduce the blue component, which is primarily controversial. Depending on the manufacturer, these can be called "Low Blue Light", "Low Blue Light Technology", "SoftBlue" or even "Eye Saver Mode" and function differently. However, it is only important that Gigabyte offers a technology to reduce the blue content in its monitor G27QC A. The monitor from Gigabyte supports the reduction of artifacts within dark image areas, which are caused by compression of the played video files, for example. Depending on the manufacturer, this technology is called Black Boost, Dark Boost, Black Stabilizer, Black Equalizer or Black Enhancement.
