EIZO CS230

Product image for CS230

Within this article we will take a closer look at the technical specifications of the CS230 monitor from EIZO. For this we will talk about all possible categories that could be relevant. To start with, we will look at the display, talk about the design and in the next section we will go into the features of the monitor. Other features such as power consumption, connectors and certifications will follow later in the text.

Display

Let's start with the size of the actual display. This information is given in inches and measures the screen diagonal of the display. It can happen that displays with the same size specification have different dimensions, since square monitors, for example, can belong to the same category as a widescreen monitor. The monitor from EIZO in this article has a size of 23 inches ( 58.4 cm on the diagonal). As already known, two monitors with different outer dimensions can have the same screen diagonal. In the case of the monitor CS230 , we find an aspect ratio of 1.778 to 1. This means that for every 1 pixels in height, 1.778 pixels in width are added. For comparison: A classic CRT monitor had an aspect ratio of 4:3. Besides the aspect ratios and the specified screen diagonal, the ratio between the monitor surface and the actual display is probably also relevant for some enthusiasts. This is the general ratio of non-display to display. In other words, 75.9 % of the monitor's front area consists of the display. The remaining percent consists of screen edges and cannot display an image. If you want to place several monitors next to each other, you should make sure that the edges are as small as possible. The display is a E panel. The panel has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 px. The pixel density is 95 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.265 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer EIZO is 300 nt. The panel is illuminated by W-LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. EIZO promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. The refresh rate is horizontally seen at the CS230 26 khz to 68 khz. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 23.75 hz up to 61 hz. The analog refresh rate of this monitor is 26 khz to 68 khz. The frame rate in the analogue range is vertical at the CS230 47.5 hz to 61 hz. The minimum response time of the monitor is ms. The average response time of the monitor is about ms. The display panel is Anti-glare/Matte (3H).

Color space

The panel has a bit depth of 8 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors.

Contrast ratio

Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from EIZO has a static contrast ratio of 1000 : 1 , according to the manufacturer.

The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:

screen design

EIZO Specifies the following dimensions for the monitor CS230 without stand/feet: 35.3 cm x 54.4 cm x 7.5 cm (HxWxD)
If you want to place the monitor described here on the desk without a wall mount, you should allow for 37.2 x 54.4 x 24.5 cm (HxWxD) of space. If you want to place the monitor on a table or even transport it, you should expect a weight of 7.5 kg with the stand screwed in. Without stand, the monitor weighs 4.8 kg. Speaking of weight without a stand and thus wall or table mounts. The monitor supports a Vesa mounting. A height-adjustable stand ensures an improved ergonomic posture during use. The monitor can be moved to a maximum height of 15.4 cm. This value is always measured from the bottom edge of the screen.

Rotate, tilt and swivel

The monitor from EIZO has a pivot function and can thus be rotated using the included stand. A rotation to the left is possible with up to 0 degree. To the right, the monitor can be rotated by 90 degree. The CS230 can be swiveled when mounted on the included stand. Pivoting to the left is possible up to 172 degree. Pivoting to the right is possible up to 172 degree. The tilt of the monitor CS230 can be individually adjusted to optimize the viewing angle and increase comfort during use. The angle of inclination to the rear is 30.

Features

  • The display/monitor supports Frame Rate Compensation.

Panel manufacturer

Many manufacturers of monitors and TVs fall back on third-party manufacturers, such as Samsung or LG, when choosing the actual display (panel). Thus, many of the monitors have the same panel and, conversely, differ only in their design, additional functionalities, the software used and, of course, the price. Two monitors from EIZO or another manufacturer with an identical panel do not necessarily have to have the same picture quality, but it is usually a first indicator for a purchase decision. The panel used here is originally from LG Display and has the model number LM230WF3-SLD1.

Power consumption

The maximum power consumption (peak) specified for this monitor is 54 w. In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.5 w. When switched off, on the other hand, the monitor consumes only 0.5 w. In ECO mode, the monitor consumes 21 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. There are 1 amps specified. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.

Environment

During operation, the ambient temperature must not exceed 35 °C , to ensure full functionality. Below a temperature of 0 °C , the monitor from EIZO should again not be used. The humidity must not exceed 80 percent. At least, however, 20 percent humidity. The monitor may be stored at a maximum humidity of 90 percent. The minimum humidity during storage should not fall below 10 percent. The maximum storage temperature should be according to EIZO 60 °C. Minimal were given by EIZO -20 °C.
