Today we will look at the monitor CG247 from EIZO from the year 2014. Within this article, we will first take a closer look at the most important feature of a monitor -the display-, then the design, and in the next section we will go into the features of the monitor. Of course, power consumption, certifications, connectivity and other important details will also be considered.
Display
24 inches ( 61.1 cm on the diagonal) offer sufficient space for texts in any office applications, for example. As already known, two monitors with different outer dimensions can have the same screen diagonal. In the case of the monitor CG247 , we find an aspect ratio of 1.6 to 1. This means that for every 1 pixels in height, 1.6 pixels in width are added. For comparison: A classic CRT monitor had an aspect ratio of 4:3. Approximately 73.3 % of the front of the monitor is taken up by the display, while the remaining area consists of screen edges that cannot display any image information. If you want to set up several monitors next to each other, it is advisable to choose monitors with narrow edges. The display is a AH panel. The panel has a resolution of 1920 x 1200 px. The pixel density is 94 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.27 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer EIZO is 350 nt. The panel is illuminated by GB-r LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. EIZO promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. The refresh rate is horizontally seen at the CG247 26 khz to 78 khz. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 23.75 hz up to 63 hz. The minimum response time of the monitor is ms. The average response time of the monitor is about ms. The display panel is Anti-glare/Matte (3H).
Color space
The panel has a bit depth of 10 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. The coverage of the Adobe RGB 1998 color space is 99 % according to the manufacturer. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the DCI-P3 color space is 95 %. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the SRGB color space is 100 %.
Contrast ratio
Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from EIZO has a static contrast ratio of 1000 : 1 , according to the manufacturer.

Without the stand, the monitor comes with a width of 57.5 cm , a height of 39.8 cm and about 7.5 cm.
The size of the monitor (stand included) is 41.7 x 57.5 x 24.5 cm (HxWxD). If you want to place the monitor on a table or even transport it, you should expect a weight of 9.1 kg with the stand screwed in. A wall mount should be designed for at least 6.5 kg to hold the CG247 neatly and securely. Speaking of weight without a stand and thus wall or table mounts. The monitor supports a Vesa mounting. A height-adjustable stand ensures an improved ergonomic posture during use. The monitor can be moved to a maximum height of 12.8 cm. This value is always measured from the bottom edge of the screen.
Rotate, tilt and swivel
The monitor from EIZO has a pivot function and can thus be rotated using the included stand. A rotation to the left is possible with up to 0 degree. To the right, the monitor can be rotated by 90 degree. The CG247 can be swiveled when mounted on the included stand. Pivoting to the left is possible up to 172 degree. Pivoting to the right is possible up to 172 degree. Thanks to the tilt function of the CG247 monitor, the screen position can be flexibly adjusted to minimize dazzling light sources and ensure optimum visibility. The angle of inclination to the rear is 30.

Panel manufacturer
Many manufacturers of monitors and TVs fall back on third-party manufacturers, such as Samsung or LG, when choosing the actual display (panel). Thus, many of the monitors have the same panel and, conversely, differ only in their design, additional functionalities, the software used and, of course, the price. Two monitors from EIZO or another manufacturer with an identical panel do not necessarily have to have the same picture quality, but it is usually a first indicator for a purchase decision. The panel used here is originally from LG Display and has the model number LM240WU9-SLA1.

The average consumption figure for CG247 is 32 w. The maximum power consumption (peak) specified for this monitor is 84 w. In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.7 w. When switched off, on the other hand, the monitor consumes only 0.7 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.
Environment
For temperature, the maximum permissible ambient temperature is 35 °C. Below a temperature of 0 °C , the monitor from EIZO should again not be used. The humidity must not exceed 80 percent. At least, however, 20 percent humidity.
