EIZO EV2450

Product image for EV2450

Today we will look at the monitor EV2450 from EIZO from the year 2014. Within this article, we will first take a closer look at the most important feature of a monitor -the display-, then the design, and in the next section we will go into the features of the monitor. Of course, power consumption, certifications, connectivity and other important details will also be considered.

Display

Texts, videos and/or other applications can be displayed on the 23 inches ( 60.4 cm on the diagonal) of the monitor. As already mentioned or known, monitors have a certain number of pixels in height and width. In most cases, this is not a 1:1 ratio, which is also the case with the monitor from EIZO. This monitor has an aspect ratio of 1.778 : 1. This means that every 1.778 pixels in width 1 pixels in height are added. In addition to the aspect ratios and the specified screen diagonal, some enthusiasts may also be interested in the ratio between the monitor surface and the actual display. This ratio describes the general relationship between non-display and display. In other words, approximately 91.4 % of the front surface of the monitor consists of the display, while the rest consists of screen edges and cannot display an image. When setting up several monitors next to each other, it is advisable to give preference to models with the narrowest possible edges. The display is a AH panel. The panel has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 px. The pixel density is 92 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.275 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer EIZO is 250 nt. The panel is illuminated by W-LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. EIZO promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. The refresh rate is horizontally seen at the EV2450 31 khz to 68 khz. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 59 hz up to 61 hz. The analog refresh rate of this monitor is 31 khz to 81 khz. The frame rate in the analogue range is vertical at the EV2450 55 hz to 76 hz. The minimum response time of the monitor is ms. The display panel is Anti-glare/Matte (3H).

Color space

The panel has a bit depth of 8 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the NTSC 1953 color space is 72 %. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the SRGB color space is 99 %.

Contrast ratio

Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from EIZO has a static contrast ratio of 1000 : 1 , according to the manufacturer.

HDR

The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:

screen design

The following dimensions must be planned for a free-standing stand without attached feet/stand: 31.7 cm x 53.7 cm x 4.7 cm (HxWxD)
If you want to place the monitor described here on the desk without a wall mount, you should allow for 36.8 x 53.7 x 23.3 cm (HxWxD) of space. The device weighs 6.2 kg with the stand in place. According to EIZO , you can expect a weight of about 3.8 kg without the stand. Speaking of weight without a stand and thus wall or table mounts. The monitor supports a Vesa mounting. A height-adjustable stand ensures an improved ergonomic posture during use. The monitor can be moved to a maximum height of 14 cm. This value is always measured from the bottom edge of the screen.

Rotate, tilt and swivel

The monitor from EIZO has a pivot function and can thus be rotated using the included stand. A rotation to the left is possible with up to 90 degree. To the right, the monitor can be rotated by 90 degree. The EV2450 can be swiveled when mounted on the included stand. Pivoting to the left is possible up to 172 degree. Pivoting to the right is possible up to 172 degree. The tilt of the monitor EV2450 can be individually adjusted to optimize the viewing angle and increase comfort during use. The angle of inclination to the rear is 35. The monitor can be tilted forward by 5 degree.

Ports

The monitor can be connected via 1 VGA ports. There are 1 HDMI ports on the monitor.

camera

This monitor does not have a camera.

Loudspeaker

The monitor from EIZO has integrated speakers, for playing sounds, music or speech. The sound is emitted via 2 speakers, which are integrated into the device. Each of the built-in speakers has a contingent of 1 w power.

Features

  • Flicker Free: EIZO 's Flicker Free technology minimizes distracting screen flicker, allowing you to work and/or play longer without restrictions.
  • The display/monitor supports Frame Rate Compensation.

Anyone who works a lot on the computer spends many hours a day in front of the screen. Excessive screen work can damage the eyes. This effect can be particularly pronounced during the darker hours and in the winter months. Many monitor manufacturers have now reacted and offer technologies and settings to reduce the blue component, which is primarily controversial. Depending on the manufacturer, these can be called "Low Blue Light", "Low Blue Light Technology", "SoftBlue" or even "Eye Saver Mode" and function differently. However, it is only important that EIZO offers a technology to reduce the blue content in its monitor EV2450.

Panel manufacturer

Many manufacturers of monitors and TVs fall back on third-party manufacturers, such as Samsung or LG, when choosing the actual display (panel). Thus, many of the monitors have the same panel and, conversely, differ only in their design, additional functionalities, the software used and, of course, the price. Two monitors from EIZO or another manufacturer with an identical panel do not necessarily have to have the same picture quality, but it is usually a first indicator for a purchase decision. The panel used here is originally from LG Display and has the model number LM238WF2-SSC1.

Power consumption

The average consumption figure for EV2450 is 21.6 w. The maximum power consumption (peak) specified for this monitor is 47 w. In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.3 w. EV2450 supports a static ECO mode, which for example lowers the refresh rate, reduces brightness and disables AI functions to save energy. In ECO mode, the monitor consumes 12 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.

Environment

The monitor has a built-in ambient light sensor, which can be used, for example, to dynamically adjust the brightness of the monitor to the ambient conditions. The maximum permissible ambient temperature is 35 °C during operation. Below a temperature of 5 °C , the monitor from EIZO should again not be used. The humidity must not exceed 80 percent. At least, however, 20 percent humidity. The monitor may be stored at a maximum humidity of 90 percent. The minimum humidity during storage should not fall below 10 percent. The maximum storage temperature should be according to EIZO 60 °C. Minimal were given by EIZO -20 °C.
