Within this article we will take a closer look at the technical specifications of the CS2420 monitor from EIZO. For this we will talk about all possible categories that could be relevant. To start with, we will look at the display, talk about the design and in the next section we will go into the features of the monitor. Other features such as power consumption, connectors and certifications will follow later in the text.

Display

Let's start with the size of the actual display. This information is given in inches and measures the screen diagonal of the display. It can happen that displays with the same size specification have different dimensions, since square monitors, for example, can belong to the same category as a widescreen monitor. The monitor from EIZO in this article has a size of 24 inches ( 61.1 cm on the diagonal). Let's keep it short and sweet. The monitor has an aspect ratio of 1.6 : 1. If you want to pay attention to special aesthetics or simply want to place several monitors next to each other, you should pay attention to the ratio between display and non-display. The CS2420 is a monitor with a ratio of 83.6 % between usable and non-usable front surface. The display is a IPS panel. The panel has a resolution of 1920 x 1200 px. The pixel density is 94 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.27 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer EIZO is 350 nt. The panel is illuminated by W-LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. EIZO promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. The refresh rate is horizontally seen at the CS2420 15 khz to 78 khz. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 24 hz up to 61 hz. The minimum response time of the monitor is ms. The average response time of the monitor is about ms.

Color space

The panel has a bit depth of 10 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. The coverage of the Adobe RGB 1998 color space is 99 % according to the manufacturer. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the NTSC 1953 color space is 110 %.

Contrast ratio

Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from EIZO has a static contrast ratio of 1000 : 1 , according to the manufacturer.

HDR

The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:

screen design

For a possible wall mounting or comparison to the currently owned monitor at the beginning, the dimensions of the monitor without stand/feet: 36.2 cm x 55.4 cm x 6.4 cm (HxWxD)
The size of the CS2420 on the desk is likely to be particularly relevant for most users. EIZO specifies a space requirement of 39.6 x 55.4 x 24.5 cm (HxWxD) with the included stand. The device weighs in total (i.e. also measured with the stand) 7.8 kg. Without stand, the monitor weighs 5 kg. Speaking of weight without a stand and thus wall or table mounts. The monitor supports a Vesa mounting. A height-adjustable stand ensures an improved ergonomic posture during use. The monitor can be moved to a maximum height of 15.5 cm. This value is always measured from the bottom edge of the screen.

Rotate, tilt and swivel

The monitor from EIZO has a pivot function and can thus be rotated using the included stand. A rotation to the left is possible with up to 0 degree. To the right, the monitor can be rotated by 90 degree. The CS2420 can be swiveled when mounted on the included stand. Pivoting to the left is possible up to 172 degree. Pivoting to the right is possible up to 172 degree. It is possible to adjust the tilt angle of the monitor CS2420 according to personal preference to ensure ergonomic and comfortable viewing. The angle of inclination to the rear is 35. The monitor can be tilted forward by 5 degree.

Power consumption

The maximum power consumption (peak) specified for this monitor is 92 w. In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.7 w. When switched off, on the other hand, the monitor consumes only 0.6 w. In ECO mode, the monitor consumes 26 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.

Environment

The maximum permissible ambient temperature is 35 °C during operation. Below a temperature of 0 °C , the monitor from EIZO should again not be used. The humidity must not exceed 80 percent. At least, however, 20 percent humidity. The monitor may be stored at a maximum humidity of 90 percent. The minimum humidity during storage should not fall below 10 percent. The maximum storage temperature should be according to EIZO 60 °C. Minimal were given by EIZO -20 °C.
