Within this article we will take a closer look at the technical specifications of the P3418HW monitor from Dell. For this we will talk about all possible categories that could be relevant. To start with, we will look at the display, talk about the design and in the next section we will go into the features of the monitor. Other features such as power consumption, connectors and certifications will follow later in the text.
Display
Texts, videos and/or other applications can be displayed on the 34 inches ( 86.7 cm on the diagonal) of the monitor. As already mentioned or known, monitors have a certain number of pixels in height and width. In most cases, this is not a 1:1 ratio, which is also the case with the monitor from Dell. This monitor has an aspect ratio of 2.37 : 1. This means that every 2.37 pixels in width 1 pixels in height are added. If you want to pay attention to special aesthetics or simply want to place several monitors next to each other, you should pay attention to the ratio between display and non-display. The P3418HW is a monitor with a ratio of 89.3 % between usable and non-usable front surface. The display is a IPS panel. The panel has a resolution of 2560 x 1080 px. The pixel density is 81 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.31 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer Dell is 300 nt. The panel is illuminated by W-LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 172 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. Dell promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. The refresh rate is horizontally seen at the P3418HW 30 khz to 83 khz. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 56 hz up to 76 hz. The minimum response time of the monitor is ms. The average response time of the monitor is about ms. The display panel is Anti-glare/Matte (3H).
Color space
The panel has a bit depth of 8 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. The coverage of the Adobe RGB 1998 color space is 75 % according to the manufacturer. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the SRGB color space is 99 %.
Contrast ratio
Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from Dell has a static contrast ratio of 1000 : 1 , according to the manufacturer.
HDR
The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:
screen design
The monitor has a width of 81.3 cm without its attached stand/stand. The height is dimensioned at about 36.8 cm , while the for the depth of the monitor should be kept free at about 5.1 cm.
The size of the monitor (stand included) is 41.7 x 81.3 x 22.6 cm (HxWxD). If you want to place the monitor on a table or even transport it, you should expect a weight of 10.09 kg with the stand screwed in. Without stand, the monitor weighs 6.81 kg. Speaking of weight without a stand and thus wall or table mounts. The monitor supports a Vesa mounting. A height-adjustable stand ensures an improved ergonomic posture during use. The monitor can be moved to a maximum height of 11.5 cm. This value is always measured from the bottom edge of the screen.
Curved
The P3418HW is a curved monitor with a curvature of 3.8 m
Rotate, tilt and swivel
The monitor from Dell cannot be rotated. The P3418HW can be swiveled when mounted on the included stand. Pivoting to the left is possible up to 30 degree. Pivoting to the right is possible up to 30 degree. Thanks to the tilt function of the P3418HW monitor, the screen position can be flexibly adjusted to minimize dazzling light sources and ensure optimum visibility. The angle of inclination to the rear is 25. The monitor can be tilted forward by 5 degree.
Ports
camera
This monitor does not have a camera.
Loudspeaker
The monitor from Dell has integrated speakers, for playing sounds, music or speech. The sound is emitted via 2 speakers, which are integrated into the device. Each of the built-in speakers has a contingent of 9 w power.
Features
- Flicker Free: Dell 's Flicker Free technology minimizes distracting screen flicker, allowing you to work and/or play longer without restrictions.
- Picture in Picture mode
Anyone who works a lot on the computer spends many hours a day in front of the screen. Excessive screen work can damage the eyes. This effect can be particularly pronounced during the darker hours and in the winter months. Many monitor manufacturers have now reacted and offer technologies and settings to reduce the blue component, which is primarily controversial. Depending on the manufacturer, these can be called "Low Blue Light", "Low Blue Light Technology", "SoftBlue" or even "Eye Saver Mode" and function differently. However, it is only important that Dell offers a technology to reduce the blue content in its monitor P3418HW.
WiFi / Bluetooth
Power consumption
The average consumption figure for P3418HW is 40 w. The maximum power consumption (peak) specified for this monitor is 120 w. In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.5 w. When switched off, on the other hand, the monitor consumes only 0.3 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. There are 1.5 amps specified. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.
Environment
The maximum height at which the monitor may be operated, according to the manufacturer's specifications, is 4 km. For temperature, the maximum permissible ambient temperature is 40 °C. Below a temperature of 0 °C , the monitor from Dell should again not be used. The humidity must not exceed 80 percent. At least, however, 10 percent humidity. The monitor may be stored at a maximum humidity of 90 percent. The minimum humidity during storage should not fall below 10 percent. The maximum storage temperature should be according to Dell 60 °C. Minimal were given by Dell -20 °C. According to the manufacturer, the monitor may be stored at a maximum height of 12.192 km.
