Within this article we will take a closer look at the technical specifications of the S2721HGF monitor from Dell. For this we will talk about all possible categories that could be relevant. To start with, we will look at the display, talk about the design and in the next section we will go into the features of the monitor. Other features such as power consumption, connectors and certifications will follow later in the text.

Display

Texts, videos and/or other applications can be displayed on the 27 inches ( 68.4 cm on the diagonal) of the monitor. As already known, two monitors with different outer dimensions can have the same screen diagonal. In the case of the monitor S2721HGF , we find an aspect ratio of 1.778 to 1. This means that for every 1 pixels in height, 1.778 pixels in width are added. For comparison: A classic CRT monitor had an aspect ratio of 4:3. Approximately 90.4 % of the front surface of the monitor is taken up by the display, while the remaining part is screen edges that do not allow the image to be displayed. If you want to place several monitors next to each other, it is advisable to choose models with narrow edges. The display is a VA panel. The panel has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 px. The pixel density is 81 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.311 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer Dell is 350 nt. The panel is illuminated by W-LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. Dell promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 48 hz up to 144 hz. The minimum response time of the monitor is ms. The display panel is Anti-glare/Matte (3H).

Color space

The panel has a bit depth of 8 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the NTSC 1953 color space is 83 %.

Contrast ratio

Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from Dell has a static contrast ratio of 3000 : 1 , according to the manufacturer.

The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:

screen design

Dell Specifies the following dimensions for the monitor S2721HGF without stand/feet: 36.4 cm x 60.8 cm x 9.6 cm (HxWxD)
If you want to place the monitor described here on the desk without a wall mount, you should allow for 49.3 x 60.8 x 19 cm (HxWxD) of space. If you want to place the monitor on a table or even transport it, you should expect a weight of 8.86 kg with the stand screwed in. A wall mount should be designed for at least 4.06 kg to hold the S2721HGF neatly and securely. Speaking of weight without a stand and thus wall or table mounts. The monitor supports a Vesa mounting. A height-adjustable stand ensures an improved ergonomic posture during use. The monitor can be moved to a maximum height of 10 cm. This value is always measured from the bottom edge of the screen.

Curved

The S2721HGF is a curved monitor with a curvature of 1.5 m

Rotate, tilt and swivel

The monitor from Dell cannot be rotated. The monitor cannot be swiveled. This feature could be retrofitted with a third-party stand. The tilt of the monitor S2721HGF can be individually adjusted to optimize the viewing angle and increase comfort during use. The angle of inclination to the rear is 21. The monitor can be tilted forward by 5 degree.

Features

  • Flicker Free: Dell 's Flicker Free technology minimizes distracting screen flicker, allowing you to work and/or play longer without restrictions.
  • AMD FreeSync Premium: By dynamically synchronizing the refresh rate of the S2721HGF with frame rate, AMD FreeSync Premium minimizes judder and ensures smooth and enjoyable gaming. In addition, AMD FreeSync Premium guarantees that the monitor operates at a minimum of 120Hz at FHD and low framerate compensation (LFC) is available.
  • Nvidia G-SYNC

Anyone who works a lot on the computer spends many hours a day in front of the screen. Excessive screen work can damage the eyes. This effect can be particularly pronounced during the darker hours and in the winter months. Many monitor manufacturers have now reacted and offer technologies and settings to reduce the blue component, which is primarily controversial. Depending on the manufacturer, these can be called "Low Blue Light", "Low Blue Light Technology", "SoftBlue" or even "Eye Saver Mode" and function differently. However, it is only important that Dell offers a technology to reduce the blue content in its monitor S2721HGF.

Power consumption

The average consumption figure for S2721HGF is 27 w. The maximum power consumption (peak) specified for this monitor is 46 w. In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.5 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.

Environment

The maximum height at which the monitor may be operated, according to the manufacturer's specifications, is 5 km. The maximum permissible ambient temperature is 40 °C during operation. Below a temperature of 0 °C , the monitor from Dell should again not be used. The humidity must not exceed 80 percent. At least, however, 10 percent humidity. The monitor may be stored at a maximum humidity of 90 percent. The minimum humidity during storage should not fall below 5 percent. The maximum storage temperature should be according to Dell 60 °C. Minimal were given by Dell -20 °C. According to the manufacturer, the monitor may be stored at a maximum height of 12.192 km.
