Display, power consumption, dimensions, technologies used, connections, certifications, comfort features. All these keywords can be relevant for a purchase decision, but an exact comparison is often difficult. For this reason, we will summarize as many of the mentioned specifications as possible in an understandable form in the course of this article. Let's start with the most important component of the PD2725U from BenQ.

Display

The display is sized at 27 inches ( 68.4 cm on the diagonal). Let's keep it short and sweet. The monitor has an aspect ratio of 1.778 : 1. The display is a IPS panel. The panel has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 px. The pixel density is 163 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.155 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer BenQ is 350 nt. The panel is illuminated by W-LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. BenQ promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 24 hz up to 76 hz. The display panel is Anti-glare/Matte (3H).

Color space

The panel has a bit depth of 10 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. The coverage of the Adobe RGB 1998 color space is 100 % according to the manufacturer. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the DCI-P3 color space is 95 %. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the SRGB color space is 100 %. ICCsync instantly matches color gamut between monitors and laptops with accurate color representation. Additionally, this monitor is Pantone validated. "Calman Ready" is a certification awarded by the SpectraCal company and means that the PD2725U monitor from BenQ is compatible with SpectraCal's Calman software. Calman is a professional software for calibrating colors and image quality of monitors, TVs and projectors. When a monitor is designated as "Calman Ready", it means that it is capable of passing the necessary signals and information to Calman to perform accurate color correction and calibration. This feature is especially important for graphic designers, photographers, and other users who require high color accuracy and image quality.

Contrast ratio

Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from BenQ has a static contrast ratio of 1000 : 1 , according to the manufacturer.

HDR

The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:

  • HDR 400

screen design

A height-adjustable stand ensures an improved ergonomic posture during use. The monitor can be moved to a maximum height of 15 cm. This value is always measured from the bottom edge of the screen.

Rotate, tilt and swivel

The monitor from BenQ has a pivot function and can thus be rotated using the included stand. A rotation to the left is possible with up to 0 degree. To the right, the monitor can be rotated by 90 degree. The PD2725U can be swiveled when mounted on the included stand. Pivoting to the left is possible up to 30 degree. Pivoting to the right is possible up to 30 degree. The monitor PD2725U offers the option of adjusting the tilt as required to create an ergonomic working environment and reduce visual fatigue. The angle of inclination to the rear is 20. The monitor can be tilted forward by 5 degree.

  • Picture in Picture mode
  • Integrated KVM Switch
  • The display/monitor supports Frame Rate Compensation.

Anyone who works a lot on the computer spends many hours a day in front of the screen. Excessive screen work can damage the eyes. This effect can be particularly pronounced during the darker hours and in the winter months. Many monitor manufacturers have now reacted and offer technologies and settings to reduce the blue component, which is primarily controversial. Depending on the manufacturer, these can be called "Low Blue Light", "Low Blue Light Technology", "SoftBlue" or even "Eye Saver Mode" and function differently. However, it is only important that BenQ offers a technology to reduce the blue content in its monitor PD2725U.

WiFi / Bluetooth

Power consumption

In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.5 w. When switched off, on the other hand, the monitor consumes only 0.5 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.
