Asus RoG Swift PG35VQ

Product image for RoG Swift PG35VQ

Within this article we will take a closer look at the technical specifications of the RoG Swift PG35VQ monitor from Asus. For this we will talk about all possible categories that could be relevant. To start with, we will look at the display, talk about the design and in the next section we will go into the features of the monitor. Other features such as power consumption, connectors and certifications will follow later in the text.

Display

Texts, videos and/or other applications can be displayed on the 35 inches ( 88.9 cm on the diagonal) of the monitor. As already mentioned or known, monitors have a certain number of pixels in height and width. In most cases, this is not a 1:1 ratio, which is also the case with the monitor from Asus. This monitor has an aspect ratio of 2.389 : 1. This means that every 2.389 pixels in width 1 pixels in height are added. Approximately 89.5 % of the front surface of the monitor is taken up by the display, while the remaining part is screen edges that do not allow the image to be displayed. If you want to place several monitors next to each other, it is advisable to choose models with narrow edges. The display is a AMVA panel. The panel has a resolution of 3440 x 1440 px. The pixel density is 106 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.238 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer Asus is 500 nt. The monitor's panel has a maximum brightness of 1000 nt. A high peak brightness enables a particularly clear and well visible display of content on the screen. The panel is illuminated by Direct LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. Asus promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. The refresh rate is horizontally seen at the RoG Swift PG35VQ 30 khz to 300 khz. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 24 hz up to 200 hz. The minimum response time of the monitor is ms. The average response time of the monitor is about ms. The display panel is Anti-glare/Matte (3H).

Color space

The panel has a bit depth of 10 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the DCI-P3 color space is 90 %. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the SRGB color space is 120 %. The REC 2020 color space is covered to 65 %.

Contrast ratio

Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from Asus has a static contrast ratio of 2500 : 1 , according to the manufacturer. In contrast to the static contrast ratio, the dynamic contrast ratio changes the brightness of the panel itself in addition to the difference measurement from black to white. In addition to the difference between the brightest and the darkest pixel, the backlight is thus changed. Since the brightness of the panel may not be able to be adjusted exactly to a single pixel, a so-called halo effect is possible. The value of 100000000 : 1 of dynamic contrast ratio for the monitor RoG Swift PG35VQ cannot provide any information about the severity of the halo effect here. Therefore, it is more useful to compare the static contrast ratio.

HDR

The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:

  • HDR 10
  • HDR 1000

screen design

Asus Specifies the following dimensions for the monitor RoG Swift PG35VQ without stand/feet: 38 cm x 83.3 cm x 15 cm (HxWxD)
The size of the RoG Swift PG35VQ on the desk is likely to be particularly relevant for most users. Asus specifies a space requirement of 44.9 x 83.3 x 30.6 cm (HxWxD) with the included stand. If you want to place the monitor on a table or even transport it, you should expect a weight of 13.6 kg with the stand screwed in. Without stand, the monitor weighs 10.5 kg. Speaking of weight without a stand and thus wall or table mounts. The monitor supports a Vesa mounting. A height-adjustable stand ensures an improved ergonomic posture during use. The monitor can be moved to a maximum height of 11 cm. This value is always measured from the bottom edge of the screen.

Curved

The RoG Swift PG35VQ is a curved monitor with a curvature of 1.8 m

Rotate, tilt and swivel

The monitor from Asus cannot be rotated. The RoG Swift PG35VQ can be swiveled when mounted on the included stand. Pivoting to the left is possible up to 35 degree. Pivoting to the right is possible up to 35 degree. The monitor RoG Swift PG35VQ can be tilted. The angle of inclination to the rear is 21. The monitor can be tilted forward by 6 degree.

Features

  • Flicker Free: Asus 's Flicker Free technology minimizes distracting screen flicker, allowing you to work and/or play longer without restrictions.
  • Nvidia G-SYNC
  • The display/monitor supports Frame Rate Compensation.

Anyone who works a lot on the computer spends many hours a day in front of the screen. Excessive screen work can damage the eyes. This effect can be particularly pronounced during the darker hours and in the winter months. Many monitor manufacturers have now reacted and offer technologies and settings to reduce the blue component, which is primarily controversial. Depending on the manufacturer, these can be called "Low Blue Light", "Low Blue Light Technology", "SoftBlue" or even "Eye Saver Mode" and function differently. However, it is only important that Asus offers a technology to reduce the blue content in its monitor RoG Swift PG35VQ. Game mode allows you to enjoy an enhanced gaming experience on your monitor. This mode can combine different settings on your monitor to provide a better picture and therefore an improved gaming experience.

Panel manufacturer

Many manufacturers of monitors and TVs fall back on third-party manufacturers, such as Samsung or LG, when choosing the actual display (panel). Thus, many of the monitors have the same panel and, conversely, differ only in their design, additional functionalities, the software used and, of course, the price. Two monitors from Asus or another manufacturer with an identical panel do not necessarily have to have the same picture quality, but it is usually a first indicator for a purchase decision. The panel used here is originally from AU Optronics and has the model number M350QVR01.7.

Power consumption

The average consumption figure for RoG Swift PG35VQ is 60 w. The maximum power consumption (peak) specified for this monitor is 93 w. In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.5 w. When switched off, on the other hand, the monitor consumes only 0.5 w. In ECO mode, the monitor consumes 47 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.
