Display, power consumption, dimensions, technologies used, connections, certifications, comfort features. All these keywords can be relevant for a purchase decision, but an exact comparison is often difficult. For this reason, we will summarize as many of the mentioned specifications as possible in an understandable form in the course of this article. Let's start with the most important component of the ROG Strix XG32VC from Asus.

Display

Let's start with the size of the actual display. This is given in inches and measures the screen diagonal of the display. The monitor ROG Strix XG32VC has a display size of 31 inches ( 80.1 cm on the diagonal). It should be noted, however, that displays in this category can have different dimensions, since square monitors, for example, can have the same diagonal as a widescreen monitor. While classic CRT monitors were built with a screen ratio of 4:3, this monitor has a ratio of 1.778 : 1 (width to height). In addition to the aspect ratios and the specified screen diagonal, the ratio between the monitor surface and the actual display could also be important for some enthusiasts. This ratio describes the general relationship between the non-display area and the display. In other words, approximately 87.6 % of the front surface of the monitor consists of the display, while the remaining percent consists of screen edges and does not enable image reproduction. When setting up several monitors next to each other, it is advisable to prefer models with the narrowest possible edges. The display is a VA panel. The panel has a resolution of 2560 x 1440 px. The pixel density is 93 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.272 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer Asus is 300 nt. Above all, bright environments are a challenge for monitors. The brightness of the monitor is crucial for an accurate and color-true reproduction of the image to outshine the ambient light. The panel of the ROG Strix XG32VC shines with a brightness of 400 nt. The panel is illuminated by W-LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. Asus promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. The refresh rate is horizontally seen at the ROG Strix XG32VC 30 khz to 255 khz. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 48 hz up to 170 hz. The display panel is Anti-glare/Matte (3H).

Color space

The panel has a bit depth of 10 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. The coverage of the Adobe RGB 1998 color space is 90 % according to the manufacturer. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the SRGB color space is 125 %.

Contrast ratio

Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from Asus has a static contrast ratio of 3000 : 1 , according to the manufacturer.

HDR

The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:

  • HDR 400

screen design

Without the stand, the monitor comes with a width of 72.8 cm , a height of 42.8 cm and about 8.7 cm.
The size of the ROG Strix XG32VC on the desk is likely to be particularly relevant for most users. Asus specifies a space requirement of 45.1 x 72.8 x 29.2 cm (HxWxD) with the included stand. As for the weight, Asus states a total weight of 9.5 kg with stand. Without stand, the monitor weighs 5.9 kg. Speaking of weight without a stand and thus wall or table mounts. The monitor supports a Vesa mounting. A height-adjustable stand ensures an improved ergonomic posture during use. The monitor can be moved to a maximum height of 10 cm. This value is always measured from the bottom edge of the screen.

Curved

The ROG Strix XG32VC is a curved monitor with a curvature of 1.8 m

Rotate, tilt and swivel

The monitor from Asus cannot be rotated. The ROG Strix XG32VC can be swiveled when mounted on the included stand. Pivoting to the left is possible up to 25 degree. Pivoting to the right is possible up to 25 degree. The monitor ROG Strix XG32VC can be tilted. The angle of inclination to the rear is 20. The monitor can be tilted forward by 5 degree.

Features

  • Flicker Free: Asus 's Flicker Free technology minimizes distracting screen flicker, allowing you to work and/or play longer without restrictions.
  • AMD FreeSync Premium: By dynamically synchronizing the refresh rate of the ROG Strix XG32VC with frame rate, AMD FreeSync Premium minimizes judder and ensures smooth and enjoyable gaming. In addition, AMD FreeSync Premium guarantees that the monitor operates at a minimum of 120Hz at FHD and low framerate compensation (LFC) is available. The monitor earns the Pro with HDR support.
  • Integrated KVM Switch
  • Nvidia G-SYNC
  • The display/monitor supports Frame Rate Compensation.

Anyone who works a lot on the computer spends many hours a day in front of the screen. Excessive screen work can damage the eyes. This effect can be particularly pronounced during the darker hours and in the winter months. Many monitor manufacturers have now reacted and offer technologies and settings to reduce the blue component, which is primarily controversial. Depending on the manufacturer, these can be called "Low Blue Light", "Low Blue Light Technology", "SoftBlue" or even "Eye Saver Mode" and function differently. However, it is only important that Asus offers a technology to reduce the blue content in its monitor ROG Strix XG32VC. Game mode allows you to enjoy an enhanced gaming experience on your monitor. This mode can combine different settings on your monitor to provide a better picture and therefore an improved gaming experience. The Adaptive Sync feature of the ROG Strix XG32VC dynamically varies the monitor's refresh rate and responds to the game's required frame rates. The monitor from Asus supports the reduction of artifacts within dark image areas, which are caused by compression of the played video files, for example. Depending on the manufacturer, this technology is called Black Boost, Dark Boost, Black Stabilizer, Black Equalizer or Black Enhancement. Motion Blur Reduction (also referred to as Motion Blur Reduction Technology or Motion Blur Reduction Sync) is a feature of ROG Strix XG32VC , which is used to reduce motion blur when objects move quickly on the screen. This is achieved through a combination of technologies such as backlight strobing, overdrive and others. This improves the response time of the pixels to reduce motion blur, which can be particularly beneficial for video games, action movies, or other content with fast movements. However, this feature can lead to brightness loss or flickering, so it is important to adjust the settings accordingly and choose depending on the application.

WiFi / Bluetooth

Power consumption

The average consumption figure for ROG Strix XG32VC is 48 w. In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.5 w. When switched off, on the other hand, the monitor consumes only 0.5 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.

Environment

The maximum permissible ambient temperature is 40 °C during operation. Below a temperature of 5 °C , the monitor from Asus should again not be used. The humidity must not exceed 90 percent. At least, however, 20 percent humidity. The monitor may be stored at a maximum humidity of 90 percent. The minimum humidity during storage should not fall below 10 percent. The maximum storage temperature should be according to Asus 60 °C. Minimal were given by Asus -20 °C.

Packaging

The monitor is packaged in a cardboard box measuring 62.6 x 81.2 x 23.8 cm (height x width x depth). The box together with the monitor weighs about 14.3 kg.
