Within this article we will take a closer look at the technical specifications of the RoG Swift PG279QM monitor from Asus. For this we will talk about all possible categories that could be relevant. To start with, we will look at the display, talk about the design and in the next section we will go into the features of the monitor. Other features such as power consumption, connectors and certifications will follow later in the text.
Display
According to the manufacturer, the display measures 27 inches ( 68.5 cm on the diagonal). As already mentioned or known, monitors have a certain number of pixels in height and width. In most cases, this is not a 1:1 ratio, which is also the case with the monitor from Asus. This monitor has an aspect ratio of 1.778 : 1. This means that every 1.778 pixels in width 1 pixels in height are added. Approximately 88.8 % of the front of the monitor is taken up by the display, while the remaining area consists of screen edges that cannot display any image information. If you want to set up several monitors next to each other, it is advisable to choose monitors with narrow edges. The display is a IPS panel. The panel has a resolution of 2560 x 1440 px. The pixel density is 109 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.233 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer Asus is 350 nt. The monitor's panel has a maximum brightness of 470 nt. A high peak brightness enables a particularly clear and well visible display of content on the screen. The panel is illuminated by W-LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. Asus promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. The refresh rate is horizontally seen at the RoG Swift PG279QM 30 khz to 222 khz. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 1 hz up to 240 hz. The minimum response time of the monitor is ms. The display panel is Anti-glare/Matte.
Color space
The panel has a bit depth of 8 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. The coverage of the Adobe RGB 1998 color space is 100 % according to the manufacturer. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the DCI-P3 color space is 97 %. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the SRGB color space is 150 %.
Contrast ratio
Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from Asus has a static contrast ratio of 1000 : 1 , according to the manufacturer.
HDR
The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:
- HDR 10
- HDR 400
screen design
Asus Specifies the following dimensions for the monitor RoG Swift PG279QM without stand/feet: 36.7 cm x 61.4 cm x 9 cm (HxWxD)
If you want to place the monitor described here on the desk without a wall mount, you should allow for 40.8 x 61.4 x 25.5 cm (HxWxD) of space. As for the weight, Asus states a total weight of 8.1 kg with stand. A wall mount should be designed for at least 4.5 kg to hold the RoG Swift PG279QM neatly and securely. Speaking of weight without a stand and thus wall or table mounts. The monitor supports a Vesa mounting. A height-adjustable stand ensures an improved ergonomic posture during use. The monitor can be moved to a maximum height of 10 cm. This value is always measured from the bottom edge of the screen.
Rotate, tilt and swivel
The monitor from Asus has a pivot function and can thus be rotated using the included stand. A rotation to the left is possible with up to 0 degree. To the right, the monitor can be rotated by 90 degree. The RoG Swift PG279QM can be swiveled when mounted on the included stand. Pivoting to the left is possible up to 25 degree. Pivoting to the right is possible up to 25 degree. Thanks to the tilt function of the RoG Swift PG279QM monitor, the screen position can be flexibly adjusted to minimize dazzling light sources and ensure optimum visibility. The angle of inclination to the rear is 20. The monitor can be tilted forward by 5 degree.
Ports
camera
This monitor does not have a camera.
Loudspeaker
The monitor from Asus has integrated speakers, for playing sounds, music or speech. The sound is emitted via 2 speakers, which are integrated into the device. Each of the built-in speakers has a contingent of 2 w power.
Features
- Flicker Free: Asus 's Flicker Free technology minimizes distracting screen flicker, allowing you to work and/or play longer without restrictions.
- Nvidia G-SYNC
Anyone who works a lot on the computer spends many hours a day in front of the screen. Excessive screen work can damage the eyes. This effect can be particularly pronounced during the darker hours and in the winter months. Many monitor manufacturers have now reacted and offer technologies and settings to reduce the blue component, which is primarily controversial. Depending on the manufacturer, these can be called "Low Blue Light", "Low Blue Light Technology", "SoftBlue" or even "Eye Saver Mode" and function differently. However, it is only important that Asus offers a technology to reduce the blue content in its monitor RoG Swift PG279QM. Game mode allows you to enjoy an enhanced gaming experience on your monitor. This mode can combine different settings on your monitor to provide a better picture and therefore an improved gaming experience. The monitor from Asus supports the reduction of artifacts within dark image areas, which are caused by compression of the played video files, for example. Depending on the manufacturer, this technology is called Black Boost, Dark Boost, Black Stabilizer, Black Equalizer or Black Enhancement.
WiFi / Bluetooth
Power consumption
The average consumption was given by Asus as 42 w. In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.5 w. When switched off, on the other hand, the monitor consumes only 0.5 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.
Environment
For temperature, the maximum permissible ambient temperature is 40 °C. Below a temperature of 0 °C , the monitor from Asus should again not be used. The maximum storage temperature should be according to Asus 60 °C. Minimal were given by Asus -20 °C.
