Display, power consumption, dimensions, technologies used, connections, certifications, comfort features. All these keywords can be relevant for a purchase decision, but an exact comparison is often difficult. For this reason, we will summarize as many of the mentioned specifications as possible in an understandable form in the course of this article. Let's start with the most important component of the TUF Gaming VG24VQE from Asus.

Display

Any multimedia content can be displayed on 23 inches ( 59.9 cm on the diagonal). As already mentioned or known, monitors have a certain number of pixels in height and width. In most cases, this is not a 1:1 ratio, which is also the case with the monitor from Asus. This monitor has an aspect ratio of 1.778 : 1. This means that every 1.778 pixels in width 1 pixels in height are added. In addition to the aspect ratios and the specified screen diagonal, some enthusiasts may also be interested in the ratio between the monitor surface and the actual display. This ratio describes the general relationship between non-display and display. In other words, approximately 88.8 % of the front surface of the monitor consists of the display, while the rest consists of screen edges and cannot display an image. When setting up several monitors next to each other, it is advisable to give preference to models with the narrowest possible edges. The display is a VA panel. The panel has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 px. The pixel density is 93 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.272 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer Asus is 350 nt. The panel is illuminated by W-LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. Asus promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. The refresh rate is horizontally seen at the TUF Gaming VG24VQE 30 khz to 200 khz. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 48 hz up to 165 hz. The display panel is Anti-glare/Matte (3H).

Color space

The panel has a bit depth of 8 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the NTSC 1953 color space is 72 %.

Contrast ratio

Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from Asus has a static contrast ratio of 3000 : 1 , according to the manufacturer. In contrast to the static contrast ratio, the dynamic contrast ratio changes the brightness of the panel itself in addition to the difference measurement from black to white. In addition to the difference between the brightest and the darkest pixel, the backlight is thus changed. Since the brightness of the panel may not be able to be adjusted exactly to a single pixel, a so-called halo effect is possible. The value of 100000000 : 1 of dynamic contrast ratio for the monitor TUF Gaming VG24VQE cannot provide any information about the severity of the halo effect here. Therefore, it is more useful to compare the static contrast ratio.

HDR

The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:

screen design

For a possible wall mounting or comparison to the currently owned monitor at the beginning, the dimensions of the monitor without stand/feet: 32 cm x 53.7 cm x 6.9 cm (HxWxD)
The size of the monitor (stand included) is 40.4 x 53.7 x 20.5 cm (HxWxD). The base itself has a depth of 19.9 cm. The device weighs in total (i.e. also measured with the stand) 3.37 kg. A wall mount should be designed for at least 2.9 kg to hold the TUF Gaming VG24VQE neatly and securely. Speaking of weight without a stand and thus wall or table mounts. The monitor supports a Vesa mounting.

Curved

The TUF Gaming VG24VQE is a curved monitor with a curvature of 1.5 m

Rotate, tilt and swivel

The monitor from Asus cannot be rotated. The monitor cannot be swiveled. This feature could be retrofitted with a third-party stand. It is possible to adjust the tilt angle of the monitor TUF Gaming VG24VQE according to personal preference to ensure ergonomic and comfortable viewing. The angle of inclination to the rear is 23. The monitor can be tilted forward by 5 degree.

Ports

camera

This monitor does not have a camera.

Loudspeaker

The monitor from Asus has integrated speakers, for playing sounds, music or speech. The sound is emitted via 2 speakers, which are integrated into the device. Each of the built-in speakers has a contingent of 2 w power.

Features

  • Flicker Free: Asus 's Flicker Free technology minimizes distracting screen flicker, allowing you to work and/or play longer without restrictions.
  • AMD FreeSync Premium: By dynamically synchronizing the refresh rate of the TUF Gaming VG24VQE with frame rate, AMD FreeSync Premium minimizes judder and ensures smooth and enjoyable gaming. In addition, AMD FreeSync Premium guarantees that the monitor operates at a minimum of 120Hz at FHD and low framerate compensation (LFC) is available.
  • The display/monitor supports Frame Rate Compensation.

Anyone who works a lot on the computer spends many hours a day in front of the screen. Excessive screen work can damage the eyes. This effect can be particularly pronounced during the darker hours and in the winter months. Many monitor manufacturers have now reacted and offer technologies and settings to reduce the blue component, which is primarily controversial. Depending on the manufacturer, these can be called "Low Blue Light", "Low Blue Light Technology", "SoftBlue" or even "Eye Saver Mode" and function differently. However, it is only important that Asus offers a technology to reduce the blue content in its monitor TUF Gaming VG24VQE. Game mode allows you to enjoy an enhanced gaming experience on your monitor. This mode can combine different settings on your monitor to provide a better picture and therefore an improved gaming experience. The Adaptive Sync feature of the TUF Gaming VG24VQE dynamically varies the monitor's refresh rate and responds to the game's required frame rates. The monitor from Asus supports the reduction of artifacts within dark image areas, which are caused by compression of the played video files, for example. Depending on the manufacturer, this technology is called Black Boost, Dark Boost, Black Stabilizer, Black Equalizer or Black Enhancement. Motion Blur Reduction (also referred to as Motion Blur Reduction Technology or Motion Blur Reduction Sync) is a feature of TUF Gaming VG24VQE , which is used to reduce motion blur when objects move quickly on the screen. This is achieved through a combination of technologies such as backlight strobing, overdrive and others. This improves the response time of the pixels to reduce motion blur, which can be particularly beneficial for video games, action movies, or other content with fast movements. However, this feature can lead to brightness loss or flickering, so it is important to adjust the settings accordingly and choose depending on the application.

WiFi / Bluetooth

Power consumption

The average consumption was given by Asus as 23.34 w. In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.5 w. When switched off, on the other hand, the monitor consumes only 0.5 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.

Environment

During operation, the ambient temperature must not exceed 50 °C , to ensure full functionality. Below a temperature of 0 °C , the monitor from Asus should again not be used. The maximum storage temperature should be according to Asus 60 °C. Minimal were given by Asus 20 °C.

Packaging

The monitor is packaged in a cardboard box measuring 40.3 x 62 x 19 cm (height x width x depth). The box together with the monitor weighs about 4.87 kg.
