Display, power consumption, dimensions, technologies used, connections, certifications, comfort features. All these keywords can be relevant for a purchase decision, but an exact comparison is often difficult. For this reason, we will summarize as many of the mentioned specifications as possible in an understandable form in the course of this article. Let's start with the most important component of the Q27U2 from AOC.
Display
The display is sized at 27 inches ( 68.4 cm on the diagonal). As already known, two monitors with different outer dimensions can have the same screen diagonal. In the case of the monitor Q27U2 , we find an aspect ratio of 1.778 to 1. This means that for every 1 pixels in height, 1.778 pixels in width are added. For comparison: A classic CRT monitor had an aspect ratio of 4:3. In addition to the aspect ratios and the specified screen diagonal, some enthusiasts may also be interested in the ratio between the monitor area and the actual display. This refers to the general ratio between the non-display area and the display. In other words, approximately 92.8 % of the front surface of the monitor consists of the display, while the rest is made up of screen edges and cannot display an image. When arranging several monitors next to each other, it is advisable to choose models with the narrowest possible edges. The display is a AH panel. The panel has a resolution of 2560 x 1440 px. The pixel density is 109 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.233 mm. The continuous possible brightness specified by the manufacturer AOC is 400 nt. The panel is illuminated by W-LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. AOC promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. The refresh rate is horizontally seen at the Q27U2 30 khz to 140 khz. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 23 hz up to 75 hz. The minimum response time of the monitor is ms.
Color space
The panel has a bit depth of 8 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the DCI-P3 color space is 92 %. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the NTSC 1953 color space is 83 %. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the SRGB color space is 100 %.
Contrast ratio
Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from AOC has a static contrast ratio of 1000 : 1 , according to the manufacturer. In contrast to the static contrast ratio, the dynamic contrast ratio changes the brightness of the panel itself in addition to the difference measurement from black to white. In addition to the difference between the brightest and the darkest pixel, the backlight is thus changed. Since the brightness of the panel may not be able to be adjusted exactly to a single pixel, a so-called halo effect is possible. The value of 50000000 : 1 of dynamic contrast ratio for the monitor Q27U2 cannot provide any information about the severity of the halo effect here. Therefore, it is more useful to compare the static contrast ratio. The monitor from AOC supports adaptive contrast management, dynamically adjusting the contrast ratio of the input signal to ensure razor-sharp image displays. Each scene is continuously analyzed by Q27U2 and the images are adjusted accordingly frame by frame. This analysis and dynamic adjustment of contrast is designed to enhance color quality and provide better black levels when displaying dark scenes and shaded/dark image sequences.
HDR
The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:
- HDR 400
screen design
AOC Specifies the following dimensions for the monitor Q27U2 without stand/feet: 35.2 cm x 61.1 cm x 4.6 cm (HxWxD)
The size of the Q27U2 on the desk is likely to be particularly relevant for most users. AOC specifies a space requirement of 39 x 61.1 x 21.5 cm (HxWxD) with the included stand. As for the weight, AOC states a total weight of 6.51 kg with stand. Without stand, the monitor weighs 4.59 kg. Speaking of weight without a stand and thus wall or table mounts. The monitor supports a Vesa mounting. A height-adjustable stand ensures an improved ergonomic posture during use. The monitor can be moved to a maximum height of 15 cm. This value is always measured from the bottom edge of the screen.
Rotate, tilt and swivel
The monitor from AOC has a pivot function and can thus be rotated using the included stand. A rotation to the left is possible with up to 90 degree. To the right, the monitor can be rotated by 90 degree. The Q27U2 can be swiveled when mounted on the included stand. Pivoting to the left is possible up to 30 degree. Pivoting to the right is possible up to 30 degree. The monitor Q27U2 offers the option of adjusting the tilt as required to create an ergonomic working environment and reduce visual fatigue. The angle of inclination to the rear is 23. The monitor can be tilted forward by 5 degree.

Features
- Flicker Free: AOC 's Flicker Free technology minimizes distracting screen flicker, allowing you to work and/or play longer without restrictions.
- Picture in Picture mode
- Integrated KVM Switch
Anyone who works a lot on the computer spends many hours a day in front of the screen. Excessive screen work can damage the eyes. This effect can be particularly pronounced during the darker hours and in the winter months. Many monitor manufacturers have now reacted and offer technologies and settings to reduce the blue component, which is primarily controversial. Depending on the manufacturer, these can be called "Low Blue Light", "Low Blue Light Technology", "SoftBlue" or even "Eye Saver Mode" and function differently. However, it is only important that AOC offers a technology to reduce the blue content in its monitor Q27U2.
WiFi / Bluetooth
Power consumption
The average consumption was given by AOC as 60 w. In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.5 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. There are 1.5 amps specified. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.
Environment
The maximum height at which the monitor may be operated, according to the manufacturer's specifications, is 3.657 km. During operation, the ambient temperature must not exceed 40 °C , to ensure full functionality. Below a temperature of 0 °C , the monitor from AOC should again not be used. The humidity must not exceed 85 percent. At least, however, 10 percent humidity. The monitor may be stored at a maximum humidity of 90 percent. The minimum humidity during storage should not fall below 5 percent. The maximum storage temperature should be according to AOC 60 °C. Minimal were given by AOC -20 °C. According to the manufacturer, the monitor may be stored at a maximum height of 12.192 km.
Packaging
The monitor is packaged in a cardboard box measuring 48.1 x 82 x 16 cm (height x width x depth). The box together with the monitor weighs about 8.58 kg.
