Today we will look at the monitor 24G2SU from AOC from the year 2021. Within this article, we will first take a closer look at the most important feature of a monitor -the display-, then the design, and in the next section we will go into the features of the monitor. Of course, power consumption, certifications, connectivity and other important details will also be considered.
Display
The display is sized at 23 inches ( 60.4 cm on the diagonal). As already mentioned or known, monitors have a certain number of pixels in height and width. In most cases, this is not a 1:1 ratio, which is also the case with the monitor from AOC. This monitor has an aspect ratio of 1.778 : 1. This means that every 1.778 pixels in width 1 pixels in height are added. If you want to pay attention to special aesthetics or simply want to place several monitors next to each other, you should pay attention to the ratio between display and non-display. The 24G2SU is a monitor with a ratio of 89.9 % between usable and non-usable front surface. The display is a VA panel. The panel has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 px. The pixel density is 92 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.311 mm. The panel is illuminated by W-LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. AOC promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. The refresh rate is horizontally seen at the 24G2SU 30 khz to 200 khz. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 48 hz up to 165 hz.
Color space
The panel has a bit depth of 8 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. The coverage of the Adobe RGB 1998 color space is 94 % according to the manufacturer. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the DCI-P3 color space is 93 %. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the NTSC 1953 color space is 96 %. According to the manufacturer, the coverage of the SRGB color space is 126 %.
Contrast ratio
Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality.
HDR
The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:
screen design
The monitor has a width of 53.9 cm without its attached stand/stand. The height is dimensioned at about 32.2 cm , while the for the depth of the monitor should be kept free at about 4.7 cm.
If you want to place the monitor described here on the desk without a wall mount, you should allow for 37.4 x 53.9 x 22.7 cm (HxWxD) of space. The base itself has a depth of 22.7 cm. The device weighs 5.3 kg with the stand in place. A height-adjustable stand ensures an improved ergonomic posture during use. The monitor can be moved to a maximum height of 13 cm. This value is always measured from the bottom edge of the screen.
Rotate, tilt and swivel
The monitor from AOC cannot be rotated. The 24G2SU can be swiveled when mounted on the included stand. Pivoting to the left is possible up to 30 degree. Pivoting to the right is possible up to 30 degree. It is possible to adjust the tilt angle of the monitor 24G2SU according to personal preference to ensure ergonomic and comfortable viewing. The angle of inclination to the rear is 23. The monitor can be tilted forward by 5 degree.
Ports
camera
This monitor does not have a camera.
Loudspeaker
The monitor from AOC has integrated speakers, for playing sounds, music or speech. The sound is emitted via 2 speakers, which are integrated into the device. Each of the built-in speakers has a contingent of 2 w power.
Features
- Flicker Free: AOC 's Flicker Free technology minimizes distracting screen flicker, allowing you to work and/or play longer without restrictions.
- AMD FreeSync Premium: By dynamically synchronizing the refresh rate of the 24G2SU with frame rate, AMD FreeSync Premium minimizes judder and ensures smooth and enjoyable gaming. In addition, AMD FreeSync Premium guarantees that the monitor operates at a minimum of 120Hz at FHD and low framerate compensation (LFC) is available.
- The display/monitor supports Frame Rate Compensation.
Anyone who works a lot on the computer spends many hours a day in front of the screen. Excessive screen work can damage the eyes. This effect can be particularly pronounced during the darker hours and in the winter months. Many monitor manufacturers have now reacted and offer technologies and settings to reduce the blue component, which is primarily controversial. Depending on the manufacturer, these can be called "Low Blue Light", "Low Blue Light Technology", "SoftBlue" or even "Eye Saver Mode" and function differently. However, it is only important that AOC offers a technology to reduce the blue content in its monitor 24G2SU. Game mode allows you to enjoy an enhanced gaming experience on your monitor. This mode can combine different settings on your monitor to provide a better picture and therefore an improved gaming experience. The Adaptive Sync feature of the 24G2SU dynamically varies the monitor's refresh rate and responds to the game's required frame rates.
WiFi / Bluetooth
Power consumption
The average consumption figure for 24G2SU is 25 w. In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.3 w. When switched off, on the other hand, the monitor consumes only 0.3 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. There are 1.5 amps specified. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.

Packaging
The monitor is packaged in a cardboard box measuring 49.2 x 60.5 x 18.4 cm (height x width x depth). The box together with the monitor weighs about 6.2 kg.
