Today we will look at the monitor XG321UG from ViewSonic from the year 2021. Within this article, we will first take a closer look at the most important feature of a monitor -the display-, then the design, and in the next section we will go into the features of the monitor. Of course, power consumption, certifications, connectivity and other important details will also be considered.
Display
According to the manufacturer, the display measures 31 inches ( 81.2 cm on the diagonal). Let's keep it short and sweet. The monitor has an aspect ratio of 1.778 : 1. The display is a IPS panel. The panel has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 px. The pixel density is 137 ppi. The pixel pitch is 0.277 mm. The monitor's panel is characterized by its luminosity of 1000 nt. The panel is illuminated by Mini LED. The built-in panel ensures stable color reproduction of the image, even at deviating viewing angles, by means of its 178 ° (horizontal) viewing angle. ViewSonic promises stable color reproduction moreover within a 178 ° vertical angle. The refresh rate is horizontally seen at the XG321UG 30 khz to 250 khz. Vertically, however, the image renews at a minimum rate of 48 hz up to 144 hz. The minimum response time of the monitor is ms. The display panel is Anti-glare/Matte (3H).
Color space
The panel has a bit depth of 10 per color channel, but what does that mean? The number of bits determines how many colors can be encoded for the individual pixels of the display. For an 8-bit panel, for example, this is 256 different colors (2^8 = 256). However, since we usually display three different colors per pixel at the same time, in theory about 16 million (256^3) different colors are possible by mixing the three pixels. A 10-bit panel could even display a billion colors. The coverage of the Adobe RGB 1998 color space is 99 % according to the manufacturer. The REC 2020 color space is covered to 89 %.
Contrast ratio
Contrast ratio is a common measurement used to represent the maximum relative differences in brightness between black and white. It describes the ability of a screen or projector to produce a high-contrast image and is the quotient of the maximum and minimum displayable luminance. The higher the values are away from each other, the stronger the quantitatively seen difference between black and white is set up, which in turn results in an improved image quality. This monitor from ViewSonic has a static contrast ratio of 1000 : 1 , according to the manufacturer.
HDR
The monitor supports all HDR modes listed here:
- HDR 1000
screen design
The size of the XG321UG on the desk is likely to be particularly relevant for most users. ViewSonic specifies a space requirement of 48.2 x 72.6 x 26.5 cm (HxWxD) with the included stand. The base itself has a depth of 26.5 cm. A height-adjustable stand ensures an improved ergonomic posture during use. The monitor can be moved to a maximum height of 12 cm. This value is always measured from the bottom edge of the screen. The monitor has built-in RGB lighting. On some monitors, RGB lights are often used as "backlighting" or "ambient lighting". These may be placed on the back of the monitor and illuminate the screen outline or the space behind the monitor. Some monitors, on the other hand, use RGB lighting on the front or bottom of the screen to create visual effects that can be synchronized with the content being displayed.
Rotate, tilt and swivel
The monitor from ViewSonic cannot be rotated. The XG321UG can be swiveled when mounted on the included stand. Pivoting to the left is possible up to 25 degree. Pivoting to the right is possible up to 25 degree. The tilt of the monitor XG321UG can be individually adjusted to optimize the viewing angle and increase comfort during use. The angle of inclination to the rear is 20. The monitor can be tilted forward by 5 degree.

Features
- Flicker Free: ViewSonic 's Flicker Free technology minimizes distracting screen flicker, allowing you to work and/or play longer without restrictions.
- Display Stream Compression
- Nvidia G-SYNC Ultimate
Anyone who works a lot on the computer spends many hours a day in front of the screen. Excessive screen work can damage the eyes. This effect can be particularly pronounced during the darker hours and in the winter months. Many monitor manufacturers have now reacted and offer technologies and settings to reduce the blue component, which is primarily controversial. Depending on the manufacturer, these can be called "Low Blue Light", "Low Blue Light Technology", "SoftBlue" or even "Eye Saver Mode" and function differently. However, it is only important that ViewSonic offers a technology to reduce the blue content in its monitor XG321UG. Game mode allows you to enjoy an enhanced gaming experience on your monitor. This mode can combine different settings on your monitor to provide a better picture and therefore an improved gaming experience. The monitor from ViewSonic supports the reduction of artifacts within dark image areas, which are caused by compression of the played video files, for example. Depending on the manufacturer, this technology is called Black Boost, Dark Boost, Black Stabilizer, Black Equalizer or Black Enhancement. Motion Blur Reduction (also referred to as Motion Blur Reduction Technology or Motion Blur Reduction Sync) is a feature of XG321UG , which is used to reduce motion blur when objects move quickly on the screen. This is achieved through a combination of technologies such as backlight strobing, overdrive and others. This improves the response time of the pixels to reduce motion blur, which can be particularly beneficial for video games, action movies, or other content with fast movements. However, this feature can lead to brightness loss or flickering, so it is important to adjust the settings accordingly and choose depending on the application.
WiFi / Bluetooth
Power consumption
In standby mode, the device consumes approximately 0.3 w. The monitor can be operated on a 110v power supply. The monitor can be operated on a 220v power supply. The power grid has to supply a frequency of 50 hz to 60 hz.
Environment
The maximum height at which the monitor may be operated, according to the manufacturer's specifications, is 3.048 km. For temperature, the maximum permissible ambient temperature is 40 °C. Below a temperature of 0 °C , the monitor from ViewSonic should again not be used. The humidity must not exceed 90 percent. At least, however, 20 percent humidity. The monitor may be stored at a maximum humidity of 90 percent. The minimum humidity during storage should not fall below 5 percent. The maximum storage temperature should be according to ViewSonic 60 °C. Minimal were given by ViewSonic 20 °C. According to the manufacturer, the monitor may be stored at a maximum height of 12.192 km.
